If anyone out there was raised in the Cincinnati area, you know that no matter how hard you may fight it, you are a Reds fan. I grew up with Pete Rose as my hero. I was sitting in right field with my mom when he got number 4192. I was at a college party in Oxford Ohio when they finished the sweep of the Oakland A's in 1990. I remember where I was when they made the playoffs in 1995. That was the last time they made it until last night.
Jay Bruce's 9th inning homerun literally made me cry with elation. I jumped out of my seat, my wife did and my old 110 pound boxer (named Pete, after Pete Rose) didn't know what to do. My phone started ringing from my kids and friends. It was a cool night. It has been a long time coming for us Reds fans. So look out Philly or SF because we are coming and Votto is leading the way!!

grudging kudos to the reds. :bird: :-) I am watching the iconic vin scully call the first game of the last series of the Dodgers' season.
good luck in the playoffs. :cheersmate:

look, I get a three day extravaganza with vin. he is a american icon, and while he says that he will be back next year, he is a cherished icon with dodgers fans.
so, even when I lose, I win.

7-5 dbacks at the end of 7.

where the hell is jenndf?
She doesn't like us anymore :(
I'm not sure where she's at, but I kinda miss having her around during baseball season (Dodgers suck).

I don't know how "national" the Reds announcer, Marty Brennaman, is, but he is a Hall of Famer. He's been with the Reds since 1974 and gotten me through many a summer. But, even he says that Vin Skully is the best there ever was and is. I love hearing Vin call a game, although in Cincinnati they are few are far between. Marty will always be my favorite, but Vin and the guy who used to do This Week in Baseball are damn good, too. Who was that guy, anyway?
