Over 250,000 people have signed an online pledge to boycott The Home Depot for its "sponsorship and participation in homosexual events," according to the American Family Association (AFA).
In July of 2010, the AFA announced it was launching a nationwide boycott of The Home Depot.
The AFA is a non-profit organization that advocates traditional family values and the reform of American culture "to reflect Biblical truth on which it was founded."
What to do...what to do... (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9225079)
Let's see how twisted-up they can get over this one:

4. Uh, Home Depot CEO is a right-wing piece of garbage.
I'll try to find a link with his smarmy quotes.
Sorry, the piece of garbage I was talking about was replaced in 2007. Robert Nardelli was replaced by Frank Blake. Nardelli was a big bush supporter.
Well, then I guess the coast is clear!

5. Home Depot was a big supporter of Bush.
This is starting to look like the right eating their own.
Myself, I go to Lowe's instead whenever possible.
Man, it must suck to be a liberal.

The HOMO Depot! :lmao: :rotf:
First we have the mooselims pushing their agenda and now teh gheys! :bird: :censored:

I have a Home Depot and a Lowes right next to each other. I tend to shop at HD because unlike Lowes they offer a 10% military discount every day of the year rather than just a few.

I have a Lowes within 10 miles of my house. Usually, wherever you find a Walmart, there's a Lowes nearby (around here, anyway).
Besides, my wife is a BIG Jeff Gordan fan, who owns part of Jimmie Johnson's race team, who is sponsored by Lowes... :whatever:

We have a Lowe's on one side of US 9, a Home Depot within a half-mile on the other side, and a Super Wal-Mart about a mile south of the HD. And, my wife and in-laws are Gordon fans. I absolutely love to bust on them. :fuelfire:

Lowes does they just make you ask first. Try it.

Here, Home Depot only gives a military discount on special days. Lowes does it all of the time. And Sears?? Don't bother....

Both Lowe's and HD here have the military discount 365/yr. You just have to show them your ID and it's done.
-
I have both very close to me, and I will go to whichever has what I want cheaper. They are so close together, it isn't that difficult to price compare. Both of the ones I go to have military discount every day.
-
I tend to go to HD. Lowe's didn't get the nickname "Slowe's" because their service was efficient.

Perhaps HD changed because of the competition with Lowes?? It's been a while since I asked and when I go to HD, I'm almost always forced to use one of those self-checkout registers because they usually have only ONE manned register open and it's always full of people.

There's only Lowe's around here, they do the mil discount all the time, you just need to show them active or reserve ID before they finish ringing you up. Home Depot in my experience offers some different stuff, plus more variety and a broader range in some others, but not to the point it's worth a hundred-mile trip each way.
As far as anyone being a big bush supporter, well, I prefer something more in the 'just right' range rather than big for its own sake.
:evillaugh:

We have a Lowes and a Menards but no HD in town. I shop at both, but compare prices before buying. Menards screwed up when they built and moved into a new store. The entrance and exit are far apart, so there is no way to park close.

The Lowes here is set up the same way. I park by the exit... after I'm finished, I want to find the fastest way out of the store and get on with my day.
We only have a Lowes in the neighborhood and the "help" is pitiful. It took them almost half an hour to find me a 300-watt light bulb. There is an Ace Hardware and Harbor Freight a few miles away.

If they aren't offerin' a 10% discount 24/7, 365 then they are goin' against corporate policy! I would appreciate the store number, if you can get it! This is absolute BS if they aren't honoring our service men and women!
Must be a lib managing the store. I'm pretty sure I can get him/her fired for not honoring the policy!!!!!!!
I no longer work for them, but I'm on a first name basis with every manager at my local store! This is an insult!

I reeeeeeeeeeaally need that store number!!!!! This manager is a complete asshat!
When you first walk in the store, there should be a plaque with the manager and all assistant managers accompanied by their pics! It usually also lists the associates who speak foreign languages in order to help the customer. Store number is supposed to be on this plaque.
The one thing I found fault with HD is how anally retentive they are over corporate policies, so this is really surprising!
ETA:
The Depot will beat Lowes on the price of same items by 10% as long as the stores share the same area clientele! I worked there and would still hit the Lowes sales paper and take it in and get a 10% better price!
Everyone that shops at HD needs to know even the lowly sales people can cut up to $50 off the purchase, just to make ya happy!!!!
Oh, they also have a 10% discount for the elderly and the handicapped! Take advantage of it, DUmmies! Maybe you'd have a little better opinion of a company that hires well above minimum wage and tries like hell to accommodate their employees with benefits!!!!
-
I should have been a little more clear. I no longer have an AD ID but a dependent one. Lowes told me that it was only for the sponsor while HD takes both. The funny thing is they are both in Norfolk.
