So, i missed my 32 hours a week 'required' activity...

me & 3 kids = $780 tanf
one turned 18 last month, now = $660

and since the computer says i am below the 32 hours a week activity =$530
my rent=$250 (hud housing, thank god)

until december, that income won't change...I have to prove i can sustain a 32 hour a week jobsearch
Been hard core looking for months, not a bite, nothing...i am so jaded i am beginning to think the first interview i get i will blow because i am so pissed at the whole thing... have been 'unemployed' for 3 years in January...at first my freelancing was keeping us afloat, then it wasn't.... then tanf told me it was not viable and i had to do *their* idea of something productive. sign into the jobone every morning, and out every afternoon, attend classes on how to dress, interview, etc, ...

and the tears and fear and panic of "how are we going to *DO* this" is palpable right now...can't stop weeping for the whole feeling of desperation. my kids are worried we are going to run out of food, thank goodness we still get foodstamps...this sucks i hate being poor!

The 1st post at the campfire.

All you gotta do is have another kid. You're good to go for another 18 years. Boy are they stooopid.

I smell mole fur.

250 rent is practically free. I bet the foodstamps are worth at least as much as the welfare check too. That's pretty good pay for logging into a website in the morning, and logging out in the afternoon.

Like a cross to a vampire for a DUmmy.

This is like Nancy Pelosi thinking taxpayer money should be made available for people to live out their dreams as artists etc.

Put the 18-year old to work flipping burgers or something.  That's a job almost anyone can land.

According to this (http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats), the primitive is one of the evil rich in the world.  I think they should give that money to people that need it.  All fair after all.  Someone else is paying for them, they should pay for someone else too.

How'd you know I love hammer blows to the head? :rotf:

Kids from a background like that tend to either overcompensate and become super achievers, or they fall into a life of degradation and low self-esteem.  Some of the best soldiers I ever knew came from the inner city projects.
Of course for every one of them, there are 10 ****ups.
No clue where the DUmmie lives, but I do hope the kid gets on with his/her life and does something productive.  And if by chance the DUmmie really is looking for a job, I hope he/she finds one.

If your kids wants a job flipping burgers around here, I hope they speak Spanish.

Here too.  My daughter, while searching for her niche in life, briefly worked minimum wage jobs.  She was "let go" after one day as a hotel "breakfast attendant" because she didn't speak Spanish and some other woman who could yak away in it showed up to apply. :fuelfire:
Sometimes when I go into a store around here I could easily be in Mexico.  But as long as they're here legally, and many are, I don't mind.  Much...

One of my first jobs out of high school, I got pushed out of and was replaced by someone that didn't speak a word of English.  My choice was to either find a new job or learn to do something else at the same place.  I wasn't really given a choice.  I just showed up for work and found someone else doing my job.

At least I learned how to cook.

They have classes to teach people how to dress for an interview?  What a waste of money.

Oh and you only have to spend 32 hours a week looking for a job?  Wow, life must be so hard for you!  When we first moved to Las Vegas, I submitted my resume/applied for 10-15 jobs a DAY.  The casino application process can take about two-three hours.  I did all of this without "classes" teaching me how to do it and what to wear when I get called for an interview.

I had the same requirememnts for when I was out of work. I also had to have at least two jon applications a week to get my check of about $150 bucks a week for a single person. I also had a 8 week limit of how long I could be out there looking and living off the State. If not for my National Guard paycheck and the few times I got orders to go with another unit to go train for Summer camp I would have been in bad shape.

DUmmies are just plain lazy.  Can't find a job, my ASS!

At one time, I was working 3 jobs, all part-time.

I worked at a soft drink bottling plant thru a temp agency from 7:30am-4:00pm, 5 days a week, for $8.00/hr.
I worked at Walmart as a cashier overnights from 9:00pm-6:00am, 3-4 nights a week, mostly weekends, for $8.75/hr.
I still work as a RCA for the USPS, usually (at the time) Saturdays, for about $125/day, including mileage.

The bottling plant manager liked me and my work so much, he said that if I needed to work for the Post Office during the week, to just call him.  He even gave me his personal cell phone number.

All this was back in 2008.  Today, the Post Office is my main job, working 3-5 days/week, running any route in our office anytime the Postmaster calls.  I also work fixing cars and trucks on the side (mostly oil changes and tuneups, though I just finished putting a transmission in a car yesterday), for cash only, and I have a paper route that rakes in around $1,200/month.  So I guess I'm still working 3 jobs.

Which reminds me, I have to go now.   :-)

We should use the communist solution to unemployment...."Have a job by the end of the week or we'll shoot your worthless a$$."

Imagine if this goon finds a job she will really be crying when the boss expects her to show up every day and actually work.

You know what this is ---->  :sosad: ?

It's the worlds smallest violin playing the worlds saddest song just for you Firstlight.

Perhaps you should look outside the "executive appointments" section of your employment guide once in a while.

I hate to tell you this, but not even the government considers freelance "urban art" to be productive.

I do that, only difference is in between I have to do all kinds of work in between logging in and out.

Yeah, DUmmie, being poor sucks.  That panicky feeling of how you're going to put food on the table is a horrible feeling.  Should motivate you to look for a job, any job.  Not just one that lets you "reach for the stars" and "persue your self-actualization."

Out and about town around here, I see so many help wanted signs.

There's just so much wrong with the DUmmy's OP. In just a short few paragraphs, she managed to describe the attitude of an entire political faction.

I read some posts on the Poverty forum and some of these people are nuts, they actually think that housing, food and medical care and a good wage should be for everyone, even those not working.

Especially for those not working.  In their glowing cocoon, the worker drones exist to bring the honey back to their hive.

And no 1 pointing out that someone has to pay for it, and if the Government pays for it? where does the Government get their money from? the people who are out there working hard.

I am not lying when I say that our recruiter just got this little gem in her mailbox after sending an note that another candidate had been selected for a job he interviewed for.

Quote
I figured as much since so much time has passed and I knew I could not compete against a friend. I've decided to no longer accept anymore interview requests from any employers. I'm better off staying on unemployment while my business is starting up. I have a good year before my benefits run out so it's better for me this way. At least I don't have to worry about putting on a tie anymore...

What your recruiter needs to do now, is report the individual to the unemployment office and tell them that she offered him a job and he turned it down.  :evillaugh:

When M had the plant, if someone was on unemployment and he offered them a job and they didn't show up...he reported them. Said it wasn't fair to the previous employer and their unemployment fund.

But, she didn't offer him a job. We just let him know we weren't going to offer him one.  I would love to have her narc on him, but our boss probably wouldn't like it to much, so oh well.

Damn! Sure is a blessing I live where they haven't infiltrated yet! All our Burger Flippers are High Schroool kids! Hell, my nephew works for Burger King! We don't "speeka de doosh" around here!
