Republicans Rising on College Campuses
Edited on Sun Sep-26-10 07:49 PM by RamboLiberal
Source: ABC News
Two years ago Edward Dooley called himself a "Kennedy-worshiping, stereotypical Massachusetts liberal."
Today Dooley, a sophomore at George Washington University, in Washington D.C., is active in the College Republicans and prefers the label "conservative independent."
According to a Pew Research Center study, Dooley is not alone.
-----
According to the study, two years ago young voters identified themselves more as Democrats than Republicans, 62 percent to 30 percent.
Now, a young voter is still more likely to be a Democrat, but the gap is closing. By the end of 2009, 54 percent were Democrats, while 40 percent were Republicans.

I was just reading about a word that William F Buckley made up..."ostrachism." It describes the DUmmies to a T.

2. This makes no sense.
It's one thing to claim that younger voters are registering with the Republican Party, but this:
"Two years ago Edward Dooley called himself a "Kennedy-worshiping, stereotypical Massachusetts liberal. Today Dooley...is active in the College Republicans and prefers the label "conservative independent."
Sounds like Dooley is confused.
And then her:

For one thing, he was 17 or so when he was supposedly a "Kennedy-worshiping, stereotypical Massachusetts liberal." It's not like he was some hard core, life long liberal that finally saw the conservative light. Another thing, a "Kennedy-worshiping, stereotypical Massachusetts liberal" wouldn't refer to themselves as that. Only republicans say shit like that. And the new label for the Republicans is being a "conservative independent".
They're treating it like we treat bouncies. Even though it's been sourced and documented.

These same DUmmies cheered on the "Chinless wonder, Little Ava" for being such a young active democrat loser. Then there was that other kid who tried to direct traffic to his site, Asherman or something like that.

Sounds like Dooley is was confused.
Fixed!

Poor babies...conservative is the new rebellion...not only have they become the establishment but the younger generation is actively working against them. Liberal is just peachy until people are actually forced to live it. Then it becomes a lie, and a cruel one at that.

Just to highlight....
Another thing, a "Kennedy-worshiping, stereotypical Massachusetts liberal" wouldn't refer to themselves as that. Only republicans say shit like that.
Well, then, by your logic, wouldn't that make him a genuine Republican? Your BS-detection skills are for shit, bloomie-lib.

Another person that Kennedy brought to the democrat party that Obama has driven out.
HOPEY CHANGEY.

November 3rd is gonna be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!!!!! :rotf: :lmao: :cheersmate:

One way to destroy liberalism/progressivism/Marxism/etc-ism once and for all would be to make everyone who advocates for such positions to live under the conditions that is the end result. Unfortunately, there would be much suffering and not all of it by those who deserve it.

Unfortunately, I work for the USPS. BUT, despite the Postal Service being a somewhat liberal stronghold, our office is surprisingly conservative.
IF I do have to work, I will do so with a HUGH smile on my face! :-)

Ya' know, when I was 17, I considered myself a Democrat & probably liberal on a lot of issues. A young skull full of mush to be certain. I even voted for Dukakis in '88. :o Within a couple of years I was a solid conservative & Republican. Perhaps the college economics & business classes had something to do with it, among other things. It was called waking up to reality.

I've always been conservative, even as a young man in the 60's. I stuck out like a sore thumb back then. Now I have a 15 year old son that I'd call ultra conservative and I didn't make him that way. A touch of Rush and a speck of Glenn B. here and there plus a liberal school system and WAA-LAA, he's a liberals worst nightmare... :rotf:
I think ultra liberalism is beginning to backfire on the liberals.

I was Alex P Keaton before we even heard of Alex P Keaton, I was single digits and was rooting for Nixon, my Mother heard that RFK was making an appearance in Brooklyn and she had me in her arms running down there to see him and she said I was cranky the whole time LOL. The only time I ever considered myself slightly liberal was a few years on the abortion issue where I said I was "pro-choice" that changed after I saw pics of babies aborted and started reading more about abortion and became very pro-life.

I've always been conservative. Growing up on a dairy farm, I knew more about government regulations than the morons that wrote and passed them. Most were redundant, draconian, and so, so STUPID, it was painfully obvious that whoever thought of this crap didn't know which end of the cow to place a feed bucket under, and which end to use a shovel.
Growing up during the Vietnam War era, I remember at the age of 8 or 9 (around 1967-1968) watching student protesters on college campuses act like total retards instead of attending classes. I knew even back then what they were doing was wrong, and where were their parents.
I HATE hippies. Dirty, smelly, dopey, dumbasses everyone of them. The only good thing in the whole movie "Woodstock" was the music (most of it).
I had the good fortune of having a very conservative Government teacher in 8th grade who made a statement to our class I have yet to refute:
"If you want the least done, for the most amount of money, get the government to do it."
I listen to Rush Limbaugh not because I believe what he says. I listen because he says what I believe.
Most of all, I always detest someone who thinks they know everything telling me what to do and don't do. I've had (and still do) the opinion since the 1970's (I was 11) the main problem with Washington, DC is there are too many f'n lawyers.
And what we now have with our "Obamacare" is a bunch of dumbass lawyers who are going to be able to tell doctors how to practice medicine. Just like they tell business men how to conduct business, oil companies to product oil, farmers to farm, truckers to drive, etc. (Remind me again how well this works. I keep forgetting.)
I just want these assholes to get off my back, get out of my pocket, and LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE! I don't want/need a f'n handout.
IF that makes me a conservative, then DAMNED RIGHT, I'M CONSERVATIVE!
Best of all, I have 5 sons and stepsons (ages 21 thru 29) that are all conservatives. My oldest stepson is attending the local community college, and we laugh and joke about the arguments he has with one of his liberal profs. She always tells him "You don't know what you're talking about" after he's pointed out the stupidity of her statements. :II:
Maybe I haven't done so bad after all. :-)
-
:hi5: I whole hearted agree.

In the 60's you were either a Conservative, or damn hippie! You either thought we needed to kick the shit outa the "Cong", or you thought the slaughter of our brave men in uniform was our "just" deserts!
I lost a step brother durin' that time on foreign soil! After that happened, I was into beatin' the shit out o' hippies!!!! Been a Conservative Repub ever since!
I could never understand why McNamara thought he was schooled in warfare enough to the extent he could pick targets out of the frikkin' White House rather than have those on the ground do it! If anyone ever exposed the lives those dipshits cost us playin' armchair quarterback, the Dems would have been done then, instead of now!
Politics and the Dems cost me my brother! They were more worried about talkin' to our enemies than they were protecting our soldiers! Exact same thing is happening today!
They weren't just pickin' the targets, they were even filing the flight plans for them in the same place, day after day! Gee, I wonder why they always knew when we were coming, and moved the sams into the corridor? Sons a Bitches!!!!!
-
I'm off to run quick errand...pickup the boy and at school and us get a haircut... then back to school for a parent teacher conference....THEN a Local Republican Party meeting....son is volunteering some time and afterwards they're doing a training session.
Raise a child in the way they are to go and from it they shall not depart.... or something like that. I really should have studied the Bible more.

Beat the hell outa of 'em when they **** up and raise a Conservative!
Same thing, only different!

Worked for mine.
Just ask my oldest. He's 29, and he says he still gets a chill up his spine when he hears my belt buckle rattle! :-)
15 years ago, that rattle meant the belt was coming off the old man's waist and was soon to be applied somewhere else, usually on HIS backside!
He actually told me a few years ago that he was glad I was as strict with him as I was, because he sees a lot of his friends today whose parents were a lot more lax, and they are all total screwups.

You know what, I feel the same way. My parents were VERY strict with me and I had been "disciplined" as well. I grew up very well as a result of it. I see a couple of my friends kids and they don't listen/obey because they aren't disciplined. That's today's society. :mental:

I can make that statement as well. Dad was one of 9 children in his family (8 boys & 1 girl). I was the oldest of 3 boys.
Dad "disciplined" us with an old barbershop razor strap, a 3 inch wide, 3 foot long piece of 1/4 inch thick leather. It even had a "handle" on it!
One lick did the trick. If you REALLY f'd up, you got 2! I never f'd up more than once! :asssmack:

^ My grandfather used to work as a barber and had the same thing, though it was never used for that purpose. I guess the threat of it just being there was enough.
