1 in 5 urban gay men with HIV? Does this mean
they aren't practicing safe sex? Or that safe sex isn't as effective as it's supposed to be?

A government study found one in five sexually active gay and bisexual men is infected with HIV, and nearly half of those infected don't know they have the disease.
The study is considered the largest to look at urban gay and bisexual men at high risk for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. More than 8,000 men in 21 U.S. cities were tested and interviewed.

1. I think that more people are living with HIV and safe sex isn't being practiced as much as it should
It's a crap shoot all the way around.

2. There's a dynamic in the system that accounts for that
Guy meets guy.
Both get tested.
Both show up negative.
Both **** each other without condoms (neg tests give "permission" for unsafe sex)
One cheats and is afraid to tell the other, and continues unsafe sex as it would reveal the infidelity to change the sex practices.
Both wind up HIV+
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I know this because I've experienced the demand to get tested so we can **** unprotected. And several close friends are having sex without condoms, having received recent neg tests. And many have seroconverted in this manner. Today, gay men, in general, are having more unprotected sex than a decade ago.
They are spreading their disease on purpose?

3. That dynamic is understandable -- tragic, but understandable.

And I guess the other factor is that there are better treatments for HIV now, so people are less worried about it.
Still . . . .
Really? Is it comparable to when parents let their children get Chicken Pox?

7. I think there are other factors involved.
Certainly gay and bisexual men are becoming more complacent because, with advances in research and the search for a cure becoming more promising, HIV isn't seen as a death sentence as it once was.
Also, education is a key factor. Safe sex programs certainly are not as supported as they should be, especially when abstinence-only advocates try to dominate the conversation and elimate the discussion of any alternatives for safe sex and means of protection.
Poverty and homophobia certainly have played a role in increasing infection rates as well.
Let's not mention the fact that so many of them don't have to pay for that medication.

No pun intended but **** you,no one is to blame except the idiots that can`t keep their dicks out of every guy that bends over.
They rail on about being able to marry as if it is something sacred yet then make every excuse in the book as to why they just can`t stop going to the bathhouses and bars to hookup.

Don't have gay butt sex and you won't have that problem. Sure, it can be caught other ways, but the odds are orders of magnitude lower.

Bwahahahhahhaah!!!!!!!

Sooo......how many couples who want to wait until they're married before having sex have HIV?
Or how many people who want to remain celibate?
Just curious...

It's called AIDS. Anally Inflected Death Sentence. :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

I do not even want to know the cost of the dirtpokers in AIDs and HIV research that could be going toward choice or lifestyle diseases.
Fudge packers are just plain old selfish.

I do feel terribly sorry for those infected through bad blood infections, unfaithful partners, and the like. Think of all those poor women in Africa infected by their dirtbagging husband.
For those who get AIDS because they can't slap a condom on, **** 'em.

No....What it means dummie is that gay men especially are extremely promiscuous and much like straight men hate using condoms. It has nothing to do with any of what you mentioned. ::)

And I don't see how poverty and homophobia contributes to the spread. It's always so intellectually lazy, how the leftards always trot out the same root causes. They do the same thing with terrorism.

1 in 5 urban gay men with HIV?....now is that an attempt to get them to move to the country side or an invitation to take up beastality?

Those two things usually go together, not as an either/or.

According to scientific evidence submitted to the Supreme Court of the USA in the two queers from Texas case, 1.8% to 3.6% of males are homosexual and 0.9% to 1.8% of females are lesbian. Now when you watch TV or read articles in publications you'd think the percentages would be much, much higher......and I think I'm right here, we've been led to believe that the percentage is more like 10%+.
To think that we're allowing a hand full of such a small percentage of the population to turn the world and most 'norms' of social behavior upside down to accommodate such a small number of people is ridiculous.

Wonder how come none of the DUmmies are talking about the parties the homosexuals have for the specific reason of passing and receiving the HIV virus??
Don't believe me? Here's a search for the Bug Chasing Parties (http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AuEE3WL_vsPBIFVpS2R.I7ibvZx4?fr=yfp-t-892-s&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF8&p=bug%20chaser%20party)
Here it is on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugchasing)

Here's an interesting excerpt from the wiki article .... kind of reminds me of DUmmies;
Some workers in the HIV community report that a number of younger men seek infection as a way to receive benefits, a "free ride," because they would qualify to receive Section 8, Social Security and other benefits from getting infected with HIV.[3] Some contend that this behaviour stems from feelings of inevitability towards HIV among the gay community and the empowerment of choosing when to contract the virus.[4] Others have suggested that some men who feel lonely desire the nurturing community that supports persons with AIDS

It's worked for me and "Toots" for 37 years!!!!!!!!!
Funny how if you mention that to DUmmies, the first thing that comes into their pea brains is their last divorce!

they would qualify to receive Section 8,
Another good reason to not sign up to offer section 8. It's maddening though. I have an apt open, and we've got so many calls asking "do you do social services?" Buncha DUmmies. That apartment will sit there and grow hair on it before I submit to the government dictating how I run my own home.

We get the occasional call for HUD or section 8 and we simply won't take it.
After hurricane Ike FEMA was offering to pay rent for some of those displaced. They started out paying the full rent for like 6 months then they reduced what they would pay by $50/month until the renter was carrying the full amount. Not too bad a deal for displaced folks. Then I read the contract they wanted me to sign. There was a paragraph in there that said if the renter didn't pay their share of the rent money you couldn't use it as a breach of lease!
I called FEMA and asked them about that paragraph and they said that was exactly what it meant. So if FEMA paid you and the renter didn't you couldn't kick them out ... that's insane. I didn't rent to any of those people either.
