Just had the pleasure of telling a car dealer, they didn't get the sale because of FAUX News (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9179850)

Last night we purchased our second Prius. The first one was purchased from a Toyota Dealer based on availability (in '06 you had to wait for a Prius). When I have had my car serviced at this dealer, they have FOX News on their TV in the customer waiting room. I have complained to a desk clerk and the set was changed to CNN. First time it happened, shortly after the change a manager came by and asked "why was the station changed?" She were told it was because a customer complained. I smiled at the angered manager. The next and final time I went to have my car serviced their I found FOX on again.
This time we shopped around based on models with options. Two dealers about the same distance from us had the model available. The dealer we purchased our 1st Prius from came in close to $100 cheaper than another dealer, when they heard we were negotiating with a competitor. We went with the slightly more expensive car because of the airing of FOX News. I just received great pleasure in informing the salesman who just called from the FOX airing dealership that we purchased our car from his competitor and that although it was slightly more expensive, it was their airing of FOX News that lost them the deal. I asked him to please pass this information on to his management. I told him we were insulted that they would air a station which such disregard for the truth. I told him I was passing this on to my Prius loving friends (many of our friends drive Priuses).
:ohnoes:
FOX NEWS IS TOAST!!!! THIS HAS LEGS!!!!!
:bouncy:
-
0 bongs.
-
What a :censored: moron I am sure they cared what he thought of Fox news
-
Well, she sure showed them. ::)
-
Why do I have the gut feeling that the salesman is actually glad to be rid of the DUmmy?
-
In my heart I want to believe this so bad, because I laughed so hard when I read it. I am still laughing as I type. OMG what a PUD!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
-
I'm sure they were able to unload the POS on some other ignorant hippie with too much money, without having to cut the price after all. Now you're out $100+ for exactly the same kind of POS, and hooked to a dealer whose service record is new to you, this is what comes of making economic decisions based on emotion rather than analysis (Which explains why you were buying a Prius in the first place).

My X sells Audis, and he takes great pleasure in "brooming" the pains-in-the-asses. This is the type of customer who would no doubt get on the horn to the original saleman, and chew his ear off with that moonbat whiny shriek everytime the oil needs changing or the gastank filled. Good freaking riddance.

Exactly...there is one thing always true with the everyone ought to get paid union scale wages.
They don`t want to pay for ANYTHING themselves.

Looks like the school teacher got schooled in that thread. :-)

The thread has grown quite large since I brought it over. Most people are squabbling over the union thing. :evillaugh:

if the irony of buying a non-union car on Labor Day escapes you, then how about this--
You constantly and consistently post on this forum regarding your precious teacher's union--and how parents' and politicians' support of charters is undermining unions...
You seem to hold yourself exempt from supporting unions when your livelihood is not at stake--apparently your consumer purchases get a pass, but parents, who are entrusted with getting their kids a good education should bow down and entrust what is most dear to them--their children--to union members.
If you cannot trust a union product, then how can you expect parents to do so?
Ouch.

Yep, that dealer was reeeeeeeeeeally disappointed he lost a measly hundred bucks and didn't have to listen to your whining about what they play on the tele!
I bet he was just devastated!!!!!!!!!
Hey DUmbass! Chances are the dealer has a much lower profit margin on those wannabe roller skates than he does on real cars and trucks, and he knows he's gonna make real money from those that watch FOX!

AR ... you know better than that! This is a DUmmie we're talking about. Apparently one that is a TEACHER who can't even spell.
In DUmmie land if you buy a car from the dealer for $40,000 then the dealer gets $40,000 in profit. In this DUmmies mind the dealer didn't lose the $100.00 most of us know he gets for selling a car ... he lost $40,000!!! That's how they make themselves feel important.

13. One more kick...the dealership owner lives around the corner from me
and although we don't usually leave the dealer name plate on the license plate, I am going to this time. The asshole, who lives in a huge gated house, had a frickin McCain/Palin sign in his lawn during the '08. Seems he only cares about taxes.
So you would have bought the vehicle from this capitalist pig if he had MSNBC on in the service area right? I confused by the personal belief system you are trying to sell in this thread.

213. WTG... I've been doing the same sort of thing.
I have a remote control that will turn off ANY TV. When I go somewhere and Fox Propaganda is on, I turn it off! The gadget is called TV-B-Gone, and you can get it online from a lot of places. You can even get a generic one for about 3 bucks online too, and they work great! They're small, so that people don't know that you're doing it.
-
I can't imagine not buying from someone because of what is on TV, but I did buy from a different dealership one time because I found out that the first dealer was a big donor to Democrat candidates and the DNC.
If I can get the same product someplace that won't use what I pay to support Dems, I do so.

news in the dealership. :fuelfire:

and they wonder why we make fun of them! Go figure!
DUmmies lie! They lie all the time!!!!!!!!!!!

This DUmmie sure has a lot of money to spend on a car that is over priced for what it delivers. Perhaps we should alert The One and he can spread some of her wealth around.

I do, too. He's like an overgrown 12 year old that constantly picks on Richard and James! I loved the show they did with their moms test driving mini-vans. The funny part was that James's mom had gotten a ticket for speeding, unlike James, who drives 10 mph BELOW the speed limit!!! EVERYWHERE! :rotf:
Top Gear is my favorite show on BBCA, along with THEIR news, which is what OUR news used to be like.

Couldn't be because this is the kind of PITA customer that runs back and forth playing an automotive version of "mommy and daddy" with two dealerships trying to squeeze every last option out of one of them for nothing at all.

In A Yugo - Paul Shanklin
As the snow flies
At a used car lot on the edge of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo
And they drive with pride
Cause if there's one thing that this world needs
It's environmental friends who'll take the lead
In a Yugo
They say, "people don't you understand
Those suburbans are ruining the land"
But they'll wish they had a full size van one day
They point fingers at you and me
They say we're too blind to see
But do we simply use our heads
And choose another way?
As those small wheels turn
Fifty miles to the gallon
And their knees on their chest
They're gonna save enough gas
For all of the rest
In a Yugo
Then one day on the interstate
They suddenly lose control
They swerve to miss a baby duck
They're squashed beneath a produce truck
But they drove with pride...
And as the crowds drive past a little flat car
You know they saved a lot of gas
But they didnt get far
In a Yugo
And as they're trapped inside
At a used car lot on the other side of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo....
And they drive with pride...

I've only seen 2 Yugos in my lifetime.
The first one was in a dealer service area. It was practically brand new, but looked like it was 20 years old. Headliner coming down, tears in the seats, gas filler door GONE, rust, E-brake handle broken off, horn button GONE, etc.
The other one scared the hell out of me. It was sitting in a parking lot of a C-store, and it had valid license plates and local stickers! IOW, that POS was STREET LEGAL! :bolt:

Hmmmmm...the only time a car dealer has ever lost a sale from me is when they tried to ridiculously lowball me on my tradein (by like $8000.)
Granted, there have been a few places I wouldn't go BACK to as a repeat customer, but their choice of television programming had jack to do with my decision to provide additional business to them.
-
Thank god for stupid dealers and car salesmen. A few years back I thought I'd buy just one more diesel 4-door dually and then let that be the last "BIG" truck. Told the salemen to give me a price, tags, tax, "everything". The price was right and I told them I'd be back in a couple of hours to write them a check and pick up the truck. When I got back they wanted me to write a check for a couple thou more than the stated price....origination fees, $300 for some kind of paper work, warranties, blah-blah-blah...all quite normal according to them.....I walked.
They don't seem to understand plain English anymore.

That has what exactly to do with my post???
The person I answered said they were just imposing their will and turning off TV's if they saw Fox on. Did if ever occur to them that people watching said TV didn't have a problem with Fox on??? Apparently not.
I fail to see how doing childish things like this has any effect on anything other than giving certain people here an excuse to post "feel good" rubbish.
The entire concept is just silly.

If it were background noise or even had captions set up on it, that would be one thing. But it is right in our faces and it just incites the repub radicals that come to the waiting room with their Glen Beck books and and start a little rally of their own and start preaching to anyone else in the waiting room about the evils of those Democrats and our evil Socialist leader Obama. Trust me, we have heard it all! I have had to get up and leave the waiting room because the noise level of those "preaching" and getting excited by FOX propaganda, gets downright unbearable. I think the VA needs to be more respectful that there are those of us who do not want FOX propaganda shoved in our faces without anywhere else to go.

254. To union workers who who disagree w my purchase...
First off, I respect your ability to organize labor and have worked side by side on GOTV activities with many union folks who I greatly admired. We all have our priorities that are important to us and meet within the big tent of the Democratic Party. My biggest concern is Climate Crisis/environmental issues. My purchase of the Prius was not the main issue I wished to convey in my post, just a detail, but I defend it as sticking to my priorities. Had there been a comparable American car made by union workers, we would have purchased that vehicle, but unfortunately there is NO other car on the market that gets 51 around town (99% of my driving). I didn't mean to offend anyone with my purchase only wish to leave less of a footprint on this planet and depend less on foreign oil.
This post was a feel good post to encourage others to make a stand against putting up with the airing propaganda on FAUX in public places. If we all did this we could make a difference. The party is a big tent. I hope we can see the need to lessen the propaganda machine of News Corp as a priority that we can all agree on. Peace. Sorry this turned into such a divisive thread.
Thank You! you just summed up progressivism, it's a feel good ideology where reality and common sense doesn't fit into the equation!

This is hardly a triumph for principle. I would have had more respect for the action if they had told the dealer outright they weren't going to buy from them. But negotiating one's principles to a value of "close to $100"? Not particularly admirable.

270. You don't speak for me. I had NO intention of giving the sale to the dealer.
After the second incident of seeing Fox in their waiting room, I never went back to that dealership. In negotiation, the contact was internet & phone. The point in contact was to inform them their airing had lost a former customer (which they could tell by their records. Maybe you should stick to speaking about what you know, which in this case is nothing.

They suddenly lose control
They swerve to miss a baby duck
They're squashed beneath a produce truck
But they drove with pride...
And as the crowds drive past a little flat car
You know they saved a lot of gas
But they didnt get far
In a Yugo
And as they're trapped inside
At a used car lot on the other side of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo....
And they drive with pride...
That's one of my favorites! The real song isn't so bad either. A bit of trivia: none of Elvis' handlers wanted him to do that song because it wasn't his "style". He insisted and it ended up being a big hit.

Wow, you had never heard of a "head shop"?
I can't believe that a "head shop" had Fox News on anyway, that's freaking hilarious, I don't care who you are. :rotf:
Must be an independently owned Head Shop. Guess the owner is a capitalist???
That is freaking hilarious. I concur. :cheersmate:

There was a head shop in Nashville about 15 years ago with a restaurant on the first floor. They sold the only good vegetarian burger I've ever had.
Just eatin' the thing will cost ya 5 demerits and ya lose a stripe! VRWC Headquarters doesn't take kindly to this sort of heresy!
Oh, and ya get 3 swats!
BEEF! It's what's for dinner!

It didn't happen.
Remember, the first rule of primitivity: DUmmies lie, all the time, DUmmies lie.
And then there's another rule, not numbered because I haven't yet worded it succinctly.
Remember, primitives try to cloak base motives in a facade of nobility, of principle.
The primitive just got an easier deal (not necessarily better, but easier) on a motor vehicle from the other place, and since the first place broadcast Fox News in its waiting room, the primitive used that as an excuse to the other primitives, for not buying a car at the first place.
Primitives do that all the time.
One classic example is the drunken old sot the "NanceGreggs" primitive, who alleged she left the United States for Canada because of George Bush. She actually left the United States for Canada because Canada's where her wimp of a husband's job is at, and so she had to tag along with him.
Primitives do that all the time.

Thank You!

You're right of course, frank, but it's still their theology! These asshats sure as hell hope and pray everything they post to be true!
It makes them sub-human in my book! Hence, the handle "primitive" suits them just fine!

We must remember above all else, a DUmmy is in distress and full of (horseshit) self-imposed angst. Regardless of the bouncy situation, when a DUmmy is angry, miserable, crying, the world is a better place.
Carry on...
