An HIV-positive Air Force sergeant had sex with at least 11 individuals without informing them of his medical condition or using condoms, according to charges filed late yesterday against the noncommissioned officer.
As first reported by TSG, Sergeant David Gutierrez, 43, met a “multitude†of sex partners at “swinger†parties and through adult web sites. Gutierrez, stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, is a 20-year Air Force veteran who has been in military custody since early last month.
Gutierrez was charged yesterday with a variety of counts, including aggravated assault, indecent acts, obstructing justice, and adultery. He was also accused in a charge sheet, a copy of which you’ll find here, of violating a specific October 2009 order directing him to advise sexual partners of his HIV status. Gutierrez’s wife told investigators that he became infected with HIV while stationed in Italy in 2007, and that upon returning to the U.S. in 2008, he "began having unprotected sex with numerous partners."
Air Force officials have redacted the names of the 10 women and one man from the Wichita area with whom Gutierrez is alleged to have had sex without disclosing his HIV status. Investigators are continuing to probe Gutierrez and have asked anyone who may have had sexual contact with him to contact Sedgwick County Health Department officials. ...

20 years of service and still only an E-6====OH MY.
I almost missed the part where it says he was bisexual at least on one occasion.
Before the HIV came in Military could get a shot or two and have no worries----- unless they had served in South East Asia or parts of Africa-------------------Must have got if off a toilet seat.
I wonder if this SOB knew he had HIV and if he did ,how did he find out? Did some Military Doctor cover for him.
People do stupid things in life but this, if he knew he was infected was not stupid, it is borderline EVIL.
So far the count is up to 11 people he has infected and cut their lives short, mangled their future and they unknowingly pass it on to another bunch of humans.
We are too soft on these people that spread knowingly disease. Lord Herpies is going like wildfire among the teen population today as is dangerous yeast infections in woman and young woman
People like that Sargent need to be caned then imprisoned for enough years that when he gets out into the public again he will be to old to get it up.

He won't, his side of the family will be at his side demanding his release on compassion for a dieing man.------
Say was there not some news lately about a terrorist released on those grounds of imminent death and a year later is healthy as a horse.?

How is someone who is HIV-positive allowed to serve in the military? I have a friend that was booted for his drinking... you'd think having a terminal disease would be treated a little more seriously.
I have a trash compactor we can put him in along with the pedophiles and child molesters. Squish squish, crunch crunch.

A highly contagious blood borne disease whats more....
Trash compactor works for me - There's recycling I can get behind.

Contracting AIDS pretty much ensures that you'll not leave the U.S. on any type of deployment.
You're called in fromt of either the Commanding General or his Chief of Staff and given a direct order NOT to have unprotected sex.
At least that's what they did to a couple of soldiers at Ft. Stewart right after I got there...who...like this idiot went out and just went crazy having sex with everything that moved...unprotected.
There's one charge missing from what he's facing. Premeditated murder. He knew what he was doing would eveutually kill those people and he did it anyway.

Absolutely !
I hope there's charges such as "Conduct unbecoming" as well.

As I understand it (I'm no doctor, so you get what you pay for), this guy is HIV-positive. That does not mean he develops the disease, however. Many do, of course, but not all. There are several types of drugs today that weren't around in the early 80's when this disease surfaced beyond the few original fudgepackers and the death rate has dropped significantly.
Magic Johnson is still around, and he tested HIV positive damn near 20 years ago.
I and the rest of my unit, indeed all of the Berlin Brigade, was subjected to mandatory testing in 1985. We had two guys in the unit who came up positive. Both were immediately sent back to the States and medically retired. At least one of them died from AIDS which developed from being HIV positive. It's pretty clear that both were gay, though likely not from being pals themselves.
In any event, with the advent of fairly successive drug therapy, the death sentence that being HIV positive used to be isn't quite the case anymore.

Welcome to dumbo's America. I can only imagine how many more will be infected with AIDS after DADT!

I've been in and around the army since 1992 and there's never been a prohibition on anyone who's HIV positive from serving. They only have the restrictions that I mentioned above placed on them.
This isn't something new since Obama took office.
