Koran burner Derek Fenton booted from his job at NJ Transit (http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/09/14/2010-09-14_koran_burner_derek_fenton_fired_from_his_job_at_nj_transit.html)

DAILY NEWS WRITERS

The protester who burned pages from the Koran outside a planned mosque near Ground Zero has been fired from NJTransit, sources and authorities said Tuesday.

"Mr. Fenton's public actions violated New Jersey Transit's code of ethics," an agency statement said.

"NJ Transit concluded that Mr. Fenton violated his trust as a state employee and therefore [he] was dismissed."

If Fenton was fired for burning the Koran while off-duty, his First Amendment rights probably were violated, Chris Dunn of the New York Civil Liberties Union said.

"The Supreme Court has recognized a constitutional right to burn the flag. As reprehensible as it may be, burning the Koran would be protected as well."

Is it really necessary to put his entire name in the headline of the article?  I wonder what the NY Daily New's opinion on the matter is?

I hope this guy sues and wins.

Not a peep from them on their website.

Mike Savage just asked that as well. This is one of those "rare" instances where the ACLU would do some good, if they stood up and backed this guy.

Although I think he made a huge mistake but I hope he is going to be safe with them giving out his full name

They posted his name, age, city of residence, and his picture.  And more than a few DUmmies were ecstatic about it.

The woman who started the "Everyone Draw Mohammed" day has been forced to go into hiding. This guy probably will, too.

Color me stupefied, ignorant and and down right amazed that this is really happening.

Can workers be held to a leagal act be fired if the action has nothing to do with their job?

You know those Christian Supremest are beginning to look good from where I stand.

We seem to driven into raciestism and religious separation by the powers that be.

Is this the plan Obama has for us as to hope?

Stuff like this gives me the Willey's and sleep less nights.

I cannot think of any City or State job that that takes away the workers rights to free speach---unless they are bashing their employer .
This man must belong to a Union, are the Unions cowering before the Muslim population ???

Probably. The Muslims have the politicians kissing their asses, why not the unions?

So where are all the protests and critical articles like those that appear after a private Christian school fires someone for immoral conduct?  Where are the outcries of rage over the "intolerant" firing of this man? Seriously, no group is filing a lawsuit to back this man against the unfair code of ethics at his work place?  No big-name journalist has started protests to help his cause??

You'd almost think the left has a double standard when it comes to those that violate their employer's standards...   ::) ::)
