My school district is completely insane
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 07:21 PM by anthroguy101
Once again we were given the chance to "opt-out" of the speech. Though those who haven't opted out are required to view it (which is different from last year), they shouldn't be allowed to opt-out. Period.
What's worse is that our technology department couldn't get the feed and we have to watch a recording in history class, which will inevitably lead to more kids opting out.
I hate Warren. That's why I'm donating $50 to the Allegheny Defense Project before I leave.

If a republican President was giving a speech to school kids you would be demanding that the whole school district opts out.
In fact you would demand that he or she get impeached for doing so in the first place.

This is such a non-issue....School districts do this no matter who the President is. Instructional time is valuable and teachers really don't like to waste it on watching a politician {especially one trying to do damage control} on television.
-
In all the years I was in school...we never had a President speak directly to us like this one has not once but now twice.

So is mine, last year they nearly canceled JR High graduation because of a lack of funds, yet, still managed to have elaborate fireworks at EVERY football game.

I'm sorry but having Obama be forced on ur kids makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
BTW, prior to last years propaganda rant by Obama, the last president to do this was GH Bush. SO yeah this is unprecedented.
"Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted. "
"Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever."

His inauguration was played on the TV wall at every Wal Mart, ironic, considering his union or else pals hate wal mart.

Sam here.
Does Obummer think he's still a professor and trying to teach the kids, Saul Alinsky's tactics? Maybe Bill Ayer's tactics? Hey Obummer, take a walk you clown! :bird:

Sorry to be so cynical, but I disagree. Particularly in public schools. I think the teachers LOVE to flip a switch, dim the lights, and kick back and relax. Maybe not all, but a lot.

The older ones, maybe. I know quite a few young teachers that don't want to do that at all.

This is such a none issue. Either you opt out or you don't. Opting out shouldn't mean you run the hallways or otherwise do as you please while others are viewing the Presidents address, you should be in study hall or otherwise engaged in some regular school activity.
A teacher an/or school official should be able to connect a lesson to the speech though. That shouldn't be hard at all though.

Really depends upon where the schrool is and the politics of said teacher. Up here, we'd probably lynch 'em if they voiced an O'Bumbler following! Our un-employment is toppin' out at 17%!!!!!!!!!

Until they realize that they're tilting at windmills.
Ever wonder why the average new teacher lasts less than 5 years?

That music teacher in my choir is entering her third year.
