Title: Why Christine O'Donnell's victory is scary

Partisan Democrats are delighted about Christine O'Donnell's Republican primary victory over Rep. Mike Castle in the race for the open Delaware Senate seat.

I’m despondent.

From the Democratic point of view, the defeat of the moderate, well-known Castle turns what had looked to be a lost cause into a likely win. Keeping the seat in Democratic hands could be the margin of control in the Senate. So the folks who focus on electing Democrats and keeping a Democratic majority can't be blamed for breaking out the champagne over O'Donnell's win.

Not me, for two reasons.

First, I had thought the silver lining of this election year might be to produce a Senate with a more robust cadre of moderate Republi
How about a cup of tea Ruth? (can't take credit for that one stole it from Fr.) but anytime a WaPo employee is despondent.. :lmao: :cheersmate:

Here is a comment... funny ...

Quote
Ruth Marcus bemoans, "I’m despondent."

Pound sand, white eyes, we patriotic Americans are taking back our nation. We are honoring our Founding Fathers and we will restore honor to America.

O'Donnell will win in November along with other true conservatives. We spoke loud and clear today. We real Americans are powerful. We are patriotic Americans and we will defeat you and others bent on destroying our nation.

Boo Hoo, cry me a river of tears, this red skinned girl has a hankering to go fishing.

Good.  The RNC is at least half of the problem here.  The sooner they are all rendered irrelevant, the better for the country.

A good article about RINO hunting and the O'Donnell victory in The American Spectator (http://spectator.org/archives/2010/09/15/crossing-the-delaware).

Quote
What's happening? Conservatives have gotten tired of electing Republicans only to get bigger government and massive deficit spending. They are tired of giving their votes and campaign contributions to GOP politicians who pursue conservative goals halfheartedly if at all. They are disgusted that liberal gains, from new government programs to crazed federal court decisions, are seldom reversed but conservative policies like the Bush tax cuts come with an expiration date.

Conservatives are now demanding that their candidates do more than vote for John Boehner for speaker and Mitch McConnell for Senate majority leader. And when asked to vote for liberal Republicans, they lack confidence they'll even get that much.

Conservatives lack this confidence for good reason. They watched Specter leave the GOP and hand the Democrats a filibuster-proof Senate majority. They watched "Jumpin'" Jim Jeffords of Vermont hand the Senate over to the Democrats in 2001. They let Rhode Island Rockefeller Republican Lincoln Chafee cling to the GOP label only to watch him leave the party and endorse Barack Obama.

Rush, Hannity, Levin, Ingrahm, etc, all have the right idea! We can no longer rely on the entrenched DC Republican Party to do the right thing. They're more interested in keeping their status quot than listening to the revolution of Patriots in the country today!

And the article didn't even mention Obama's "comfort girls", Snowe and Collins, who have ACU ratings LOWER than some Democrat Senators.

The DUmmies are making a big deal out of Russ Feingold trying to reach 15K donors.  http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9141649

He's using the typical left-wing smears and fear tactics.

Russ’s opponent and the extremists want to win this election bad.

They want to gut social security, roll back health care, and hand over our economy to the Wall Street profiteers who got us into this mess in the first place.

This election is in your hands.

Don't let Russ’s opponent and corporate special interests in Washington take it away.

Lot's of projection from feingold. He's accusing the right of wanting to do what Obama's gang of thieves are already doing.

Hannity has been screaming, "Revitalized Republican party" for over a year now.
I think people finally understand that a third party would not work but revitalizing the Republican Party will.

Ya know, the RNC is afraid, they're very afraid!!!!!

They thought they had a monopoly on funding for their candidates!  They're finding out "We the People" have more power than they ever realized!

It's our own fault, ya know. We have been way too convalescent during the previous decades!
