Thanks for the greetings.

Leftists and true conservatives often can have intelligent discussions based on their common view of objective reality, not withstanding that they hold different ideas about how to respond to that reality. Progressives and liberals on the other hand live in a fantasy world of delusion and denial.  With the impending collapse of the Democratic party, and the utter confusion and disarray among liberals and progressives it may be time to break through the partisan political straight jacket and work against the common enemy, at least tactically in a limited way and for a limited time. The Obama administration is the worst in history. I don't see the Democratic party recovering from this unfolding fiasco - I hope that it does not. One would hope that the Republicans would at the very least roll back the growing police state and restore the Bill of Rights, rescind legislation such as that "health care" nightmare, but I fear that they answer to the same masters that the Democrats do.

Hi, welcome to the forum.  I'm Jessica.

Why are so many DU members coming over here?  Is it because we can hold civil conversations and you do not get banned for disagreeing with the majority?

True conservatives?

Oh, hell...here we go.

True conservatives?

Oh, hell...here we go.

I know, it's silly that these people know what 'true conservatives' are, since they are after all, leftists/liberals/progressives.

Is there a manual or guide to a true conservative?  I need to make sure I am following ALL of the guidelines and fall into ALL of the stereotypes.

Oh, hell...here we go.

Sorry? Didn't know I had used a cliche.

Explain the problem to me.

Don't know why AllentownJake and Ardent came over.

There has always been a problem with censorship and banning at DU.

Didn't realize that this was some ongoing controversy here. Maybe someone can explain to me what went on previously about this subject.

In my usage, a true conservative is one who supports limiting government, avoiding foreign entanglements (historically), excercising fiscal restraint, and protecting personal liberty. There are many Republican voting people and Republican politicians who do not take those positions. There is a similar situation in the Democratic party, where many hold conservative positions but call themselves leftists.

A false conservative, then, would be one who talked conservative to get elected, and then turned around and expanded government, increased taxation, installed more regulations, increased deficit spending, became entangled in the affairs of foreign countries, and undermined personal liberty.

But I am not trying to tell anyone what they are, nor put them in any cubby hole, nor sneak in some veiled attack on conservatives or conservatism.

I've been talking for a while over here.  Points of agreement, points of disagreement.  However, you can talk and disagreeing and debate seem to be less frowned upon.

welcome!

Were you a John Edwards supporter?

Personally, I agree with your definition of "conservative".  stick "constitution" in there somewhere and I'd be EXTREMELY happy  :lmao:

I have read some of your posts from DU....

I do hope your reason for coming here is to find common ground and constructive debate.....not to inflame.

If it's the former, you will find we really aren't the "evil" conservatives that the DU likes to imagine us.

If it's to inflame....I hope you are wearing fireproof clothing.

For now....welcome to the Cave.

Is it just me that's kind of giggling at BEG's polite, but brief replys. It just kind of seems like someone saying "Hello" real fast, and making a safe get away. I've noticed it in the last 2 new member's new threads. Nothing wrong with it. I just find it somewhat amusing.

I think you're right, dutch. That two sentence introduction doesn't have my stomach sitting very well. Good luck, Two Americans.

Disagreeing and debate are looked apon as a part of the democratic process and so are welcome here. Yeah...Irony. More so that DU doesn't allow either.
What will get you booted is just being a complete asswipe. ATJ does a good job at being one, but hasn't crossed the line. yet.
I have faith that he'll loose control and just go off, like so many other DUmpmonkiez who find their way here.
Prob'ly on November 2nd.
