Oh my.
This sounds promising, Condoleeza Rice as vice-president.
Damn, I wish it would happen.

Breaking - Condi Rice Flirts With VP Possibility
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is speaking this morning to Grover Norquist's weekly powerhouse gathering at Americans for Tax Reform of conservative associations, think tanks, and political operations.
At the semi-secret gatherings which Republican political hopefuls migrate to to get the blessing of not only Norquist but the diverse parts of the nation's conservative money and political machinery, Norquist gives everyone in the room 3 minutes to pitch their cause or issue. I have attended before, but if one wants to attend again -- no one may write or speak about the internal discussion or who attended.
In this case, however, I am not attending -- but a source other than Norquist has leaked this information to The Washington Note and Huffington Post.
As one major Republican operative told me yesterday:
Someone like Condi Rice doesn't go to Grover Norquist's den to talk about the Annapolis Middle East peace process. She's going to secure her future in Republican politics and to position herself as a 'potential' VP candidate on the McCain ticket.

4. She's failed at SECSTATE and National Security Advisor
but she does have conservative values. There is plenty of ignorant mother****ers who would just love to see her in the fancy house at Annapolis.
Hopefully General Clark will be our next SECSTATE. After a few years of his sound leadership and diplomatic skills condi's chapter in American History will be chipped in granite.
Former Republican VP's
nixon
bush
quayle
cheney
great list.
The head swine primitive's right; it's a great list.

16. What will happen when she has to appear at the Hague?
Or they arrest her if she goes to other countries?

13. hmm... my how she lies about not being interested.
Condi will carry on with bush agenda. Oh, boy, we better get our shit together, or we can kiss our Democratic butts goodbye, and hello to more death and destruction. They have had this planned.

19. I called this weeks ago....knowing that Condi would totally diffuse any accusations of "racism" or "sexism" that the Dems could level against the GOP ticket. Not surprised in the least.

31. That would lose it for McCain. Definitely.
Even the poor deluded souls who still support Bush don't like Condi.

For what again? Oh yeah, those imaginary war crimes you DUmmies keep harping about.
Personally, I'd prefer that she take over for Cheney in the coming months, if only to scare the hell out of the DUmmies. :-)

Condoleeza Rice does not strike most people as a person who says things she doesnt mean. She's an accomplished person in her own right and has never run for office so I wouldnt expect it now.
It would be quite something to have someone elevated to a VP slot who has never been elected to the Senate or the House.. I guess it could happen and she would be great at the job. But she has always said she would go back to her private life after the president leaves office and I cannot say I blame her one bit. She's had to deal with the leftie idiots for the past almost 8 years and that's plenty for one lifetime.

This might be a little off topic, but you know what strikes me about liberals' opinions of Condi? She is a woman who has succeeded in making a career for herself, and has yet to marry. I thought that was what feminists wanted, yet they still attack her for it. :mental:

What will happen when pigs fly, monkeys jump out of your rear end, or a liberal tells the truth about his political positions?

Add on to that that she's black. Condi Rice should be a role model.

oh she is ... 4500 idiots at DU dont change that one bit.
I think history will be very kind to her and GW in the decades to come when the lefties finally grow up and realize they were doing the right thing in protecting the country.

It would be SO fun to be in a position to call the Lefties both Sexist AND Racist for not 100% supporting Condi.
A man can dream...

Bush Sr. wasn't elected to anything else before VP. From his bio on Whitehouse.org (NOT whitehouse.com):
Twice he ran unsuccessfully for the Senate. Then he was appointed to a series of high-level positions: Ambassador to the United Nations, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, Chief of the U. S. Liaison Office in the People's Republic of China, and Director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
On edit: Frank, sporting Shannon's avatar, reminded me that President G H W Bush did in fact hold elected office. It isn't proper (IMHO) to redact a post upon which a comment has been made, but I wanted people to know my statement was false.
Good ol' Frank Solich.

Actually, freedumb, sir, George Bush did hold an elective office; he was a U.S. Congressman from Texas during the late 1960s.
I'm just pulling this out of my head, but I believe he ran for the U.S. Senate in 1964, and again in 1970. He served in the House of Representatives in between those two times. Interestingly, in the 1970 Senatorial election, he ran against Lloyd Bentsen, the Democrat.
Bentsen had to put himself to the "right" of George Bush, to get elected.
Yeah, that's right; Bentsen had to run to the right of Bush.
There's an interesting story in one of the biographies of Lyndon Johnson, about George and Barbara Bush.
George Bush when a congressman caused Johnson much grief, no love between them.
The morning of January 20, 1969, while everybody was celebrating in Washington, D.C., nobody was paying any attention at all to the departing president.
Lyndon and Lady Bird arrived at the airport, via helicopter, to get on the airplane for the ride back to Texas.
There was nobody there, other than the usual Secret Service and airport personnel.
Not even any Democrats.
Excepting then-Congressman George Bush and his wife suddenly pulled up, to wish the departing president and his wife good wishes and farewell.
That's class. The Bushes could have been celebrating with all the other Republicans in Washington, but choose to give the weary warrior a good, albeit small, send-off.

*DOH* It was the sentence immediately preceding my quote.
Thanks for correcting me. And that is a great story. GHW was and is a class act.
