Title: Now they hate labor day.
Post by: Freeper on September 06, 2010, 08:39:45 AM
Hell I always expect some goon to rant on Thanksgiving and Christmas about how evil that holiday is. This is the first time I have seen them bitch about labor day. What's next groundhog day?  :lmao:

False labor day under way...

Some say it is May 1st on international solidarity day. I have heard speeches in other countries about Americans workers who were killed striking for a 40 hour work week. Of course in the land of the "free", we will not hear such stories.

Instead we will be told to rush out with mindless consumerism and buy.

Or if you live in my type of community, you get a Happy labor day for two seconds on the news and they immediately switch to military propaganda news. I thought every day was military propaganda day about our "loved ones". Let me tell you I drive by a major base on my way home and those "loved ones" are speeding at least 30 mph over the speed limit leaving the base and just pissing all over the tax paying drivers by not allowing us to proceed so that can get back to their tax free lifestyle and discounts aplenty. But I drift.

And yes, **** you Jerry Lewis. Yes I know our system fails to provide for children with all sorts of diseases but did you have to piss all over False Labor Day to get your message across? Why not Thanksgiving?

And why are there not news stories about the status of labor in America? What are the average wages? Where have the jobs and money gone? Every day is like the fourth of July for the Reagan rich. They do not have to answer why they are exporting jobs overseas, why they flood our markets with cheap junk at high prices, nor why they don't even fight in wars they want to see fought. The media are owned by the rich and their master plan is more money for themselves and minimum wage for the rest of us. Many people have to squeeze in houses like cockroaches just to pay the bills.

And why haven't our Democrats thought up a new one? "This place has been a Republican stronghold for decades. Why have there not been decent paying jobs?"

Substitute place with something like the anti union South, etc.

4. The labor movement in the US is content to "keep the peace" while    Updated at 7:50 AM

workers' rights are taken away, and the wage slave becomes the American Ideal...EVERYTHING in your life is dependent on your employer - healthcare, your disability and your retirement. And many are finding that their pensions and benefits are GONE when their employers go out of business or file for bankruptcy.

We need universal healthcare, guaranteed support for the old and disabled and chronically ill.

Class war? They have been killing us for generations - way past time for us to fight back.

What if the US Govt runs out of money though?

So basically this whole thread was a whiny goon bitchin that he doesn't get enough freebies at the taxpayers expense. :mental:

They're just mad that there isn't a holiday and extra pay for "Non-Working Freeloaders".

Its stunning -

- Thread after thread complaining about wages and the lack of 100% unionization of all workers. They are also pissing and moaning that the US isn't celebrating labor and unions on May 1st like the rest of the world.

And of course, military bashing.. I have never seen the hive so angry at Labor Day before....I wonder if it has anything to do with 'Recovery Summer' and Obama's failure to deliver....  :loser:

6. end of summer day off.....

Every other holiday in the US has some message tied to it.... Good Friday/Easter: religious, Memorial Day: honor the vets, 4th of July: independence, Thanksgiving: harvest, Christmas: religious, New Years Day: duh. But do you see any stories in the media about Labor, the history of Labor, etc? Do they talk about Labor Day in schools? Its the end of summer day off, nothing more.

There are two days a year I fly my American flag: 4th of July and Labor Day.

It's an important holiday, but only if we make it so.

He's new.  He doesn't get that you have to rant and rave at every minor, inconsequential thing that happens, no matter how silly it makes you look.

I volunteered to be on call for work today, if needed. Labor day Day is the one Holiday that we don't do anything as a family most of the time, so it doesn't bother me to work.

Ya beat me to it!  I was gonna say they are pissed the rest of us get a paid (I don't .... I'm self employed) holiday.  Another part of the problem for them is those of us who ARE self employed aren't paying into their 'disability' pots.  They see it as a huge loss.  They don't have the malls to themselves and they are losing money.

Did you hear about the new SUV Ford has?  It's called the Freeloader.  There's room for a loaf of bread in the glove compartment. :-)

Are they just upset because those of us who matter in society are not working today to provide for their families?

Productive hard working people have the day off with pay. That means they are the "welfare" that the DUmmies think is theirs.  I always have Mondays off, but  for the Holiday I do get an extra 8 hours pay. :)

Last year I got vacation pay for Labor Day and if I was scheduled to work, I got my hourly pay on top of that.

I'm not getting paid today, but my husband is.  I work for a temp agency, for some reason, they do not offer holiday pay.  Maybe I should start a thread bitching about this and we can all start bashing evil corporations!

It's not a big deal for me.  I get one day to relax at home, away from the office.  It doesn't matter if I get paid or not.

The wagon pullers take a break for a day, and all you hear out of the people sitting in the wagon is "move!"

My husband worked for a custom boat company in Lake Havasu City back in the early 90's. If you wanted to be paid for Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other holiday, you had to work that day.  Otherwise you took the day off without pay. When i was sick with my first bout of UVeitis my husband had to take off because i couldn't care for our newborn, his boss didn't give people vacation or sick days so my husband didn't get paid for any of those days (and we lived paycheck to paycheck back then).

His boss was always at work so if you needed the money and had to work on a holiday it was always open.  He felt like you should feel thankful that he gave you a job because someone is always waiting in the wings to take it. My husband loved that job (he designed boats) but I can't imagine a DUmmie working there, they would have tried to Unionize and get fired or something.

And it's these asshats and their destructive unions that pushed and pushed for employers to be on the hook for healthcare, disability benefits and retirement.

It was all just a ploy to alleviate them of responsibility of planning for themselves.  That way, if things go awry, they can pawn off blame on someone else instead of looking at themselves and asking "Why am I so ignorant to reality?"

Had they chosen personal responsibility over collective failure, we wouldn't be in the situations we are now.

DUmmies are supportive of another unionizing attempt to drive a company out of business.

Very good point.  I'm thankful to have the job that I have.  I could be one of the 20%+ in Las Vegas that is unemployed.

Sounds more like a GM vehicle.

I like Ford and the fact they didn't have their hand out or need a bailout. I'll likely buy a Ford for my next car (unless the government allows the 74 mpg MiniCooper D into the country for sale).

Ford is one of the major corporations that is actually doing well, lately.  One of the big reasons is that they didn't need a bailout from the government.  I know that I'd buy a Ford based on that alone, and I was always a Mopar guy.  The only Mopar I'd consider getting now is the new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Having to earn something is considered oppression by these morons.
You and I should have to work and then cheerfully hand over most of our earnings to Uncle Sam so he can give it to them.

I forget who said, once people figure out you can vote yourself the wealth of others that democracy is over, but, he was right on the money.
