I inadvertantly infiltrated a Rethug event this past Sunday.
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 05:21 PM by arbusto_baboso
Let me explain.
Both my wife and I are civil servants. Last Friday, my wife found out about an event for public sector employees being sponsored by Elton Gallegly's office. Now, I hate Gallegly's tiny race-baiting heart with the heat of a thousand suns, but any event that shows gratitide for civil servants, well.... I'm there, since we get so little. Besides, it included a free ride on the Fillmore and Western Railway and a BBQ tri-tip lunch, all free of charge.
Turns out the whole thing was a Gallegly campaign event!
Let me tell you it was tough to sit quietly listening to ultra-righties tell all the nasty jokes and run down all the people, programs and ideas that we DUers value. And let me state categorically that all of the horrible nightmarish thoughts we have about how stomach-churning it would be to be in such company are well-founded.
And yet, what my wife and I basically feared more than anything was being found out. We felt like infiltrators. Spies if you will. We were sweating like whores in church. It was especially tough the TWO times Gallegly shook my hand. ( And should anyone think I should've spoken my mind, let me remind you we were on a moving train, and these were Republicans... )
Now? Well, I see it this way. Either Gallegly was using his own campaign $ to fund this, in which case, **** him we got him to spend his money on US. Or, he was using taxpayer $, in which case we were frickin' entitled to this!
I've seen the other side folks. It's just as ugly as we believe it is.

Nuff said. And I have no idea who this Elton Gallegly guy is. Had to look it up.

That's about all that DUmmies do value. And they even complain about that.

How impressive! He and his wife "infiltrated" an event they were welcome to attend.
The stupid - it burns.

10. How about this. Keep the unrec function but REQUIRE...
a post explaining why the DUer unrecced it. I'd be okay with that. When someone explains to me what they have a problem with, I may not agree, but I can respect it.

11. First I liked your op. But why does it matter. I've old people why I unrecced and gou
tons of lip for it. In the scheme of things good posts are the ones that spark discussion regardless of recs & unrecs.
Basically recs and unrecs don't mean shit.
You guys have got to let it go and give it a rest.

15. SHHH! Here's a secret....
When you whine and bitch about someone unreccing your thread, you get a whole bunch of "sympathy recs" from others to offset things.
A large part of my indignation is to boost the thread.

18. I think people complain about unrecs as an excuse to post another
comment on their own thread and thus kick it.

19. That too. I freely admit it.

all free of charge.
Nice to see our "civil" servants in action, huh? As long as it's not your dime right, you useless puke?
What's your salary, asshole? Twice what you deserve? And you have the nerve to complain?
Damn! Just damn!!!!!

horrible nightmarish thoughts we have about how stomach-churning it would be to be in such company are well-founded.
Isn't it nice to know how our civil servants feel about 50-60% of the population? I am sure they will always do a good job for us, no matter our political leanings.

Karin, as a NYS employee, I really don't care what the political affiliation is of the person who I'm asking about a real estate transaction, or the affiliation of the tax rep for whatever company's property I'm at, or when I worked in the lab, whoever inhabited the dwelling that the sample in question was from. I had a job to do, and I did it.
I will say this: There's a fair number of fellow NYS employees who feel the same way (at least 35%). There's also some others who do care about those things. I tend not to get near them.

To the primitives, "tell(ing) all the nasty jokes and run(ing) down all the people, programs and ideas that we DUers value" is usually one person saying they disagree on principle about something with which the primitives approve.

What the hell? If you took a moebius strip and inflated it into a Klein bottle, you still wouldn't have anything 1/10th as involuted as these bugs.

Without reading the post yet, I'm guessing that this is DUmmy-speak for "My mommy made me go to church".

As opposed to just as ugly as you really are.
Get all you can while you can, DUmmies! The gravy train is about to come to the end of the line. :-)

Yes, but you are allowed 2 per season.
More if it's YOUR BBQ.

What? Uh oh! All I have beside double ott is #6! I guess it's all right though, since I'd used the 'ol Parker Bros Double Barrel! No way I'm wastin' my #00!

They get an invite to an event sponsored by a candidate running for public office and accept the offer for the free food (they're entitled). then are shocked to find out it's a campaign event. ::)

AR, open the tops of the shells, and pour molten wax down inside. Reclose the crimp, probably before it cools. The wax should hold the shot together until they hit something.

Ooooooooooooooh! Good idea! Think I'll try it with my #00 buck, too! Imagine the hole that could open! Specially with a dbl!
Pretty sure the heat will melt the wax before it leaves the barrel though.

Ain't there a wad to hold the shot in some semblance of order?
