Failed Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Greene is suing the St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald for libel over articles Greene claims cost him votes.

Greene is seeking $500 million in damages from the newspapers, reporters and editors. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Miami-Dade Circuit Court.

Greene said the papers published knowingly false stories and an editorial implicating him in a California mortgage fraud case. Another story involving boxer Mike Tyson detailed allegations of illegal drug use aboard Greene's yacht, which Greene also says is false.

Greene said the stories were instrumental in his loss to Kendrick Meek in the Democratic Senate primary last week.

Top editors at the newspapers declined immediate comment.

Interestingly, that's about 498.5 million more than he would have earned in a full term as Senator, without even reducing it to present value, wonder what he had in mind to be doing as a Senator...?   :evillaugh:

Yeah, yeah, I know, claims of damage to reputation and future earning potential IF he had been ultimately elected (Which should go nowhere), all that, but that's no reason to spare the mockery now!
