Title: How Barack Obama Became Mr. Unpopular

Quote
The Barack Obama that most Hoosiers remember voting for can still be found on YouTube. He stands before a cheering Elkhart high school gymnasium in August 2008, tireless, aspirational, promising a new America of jobs and hope. "We can choose another future," says the newcomer with the funny name. "So I ask you to join me."

Today that view of Obama is harder to find in Indiana. A couple of weeks back and a dozen miles west of Elkhart, hundreds gathered in another school gym - except this time it was for a job fair. With the local unemployment rate above 12% and rising again this summer, about a third of the employer display tables stood empty. Julie Griffin, who voted for Obama in '08, sat down at the room's edge, well dressed and discouraged. After 23 years as a payroll administrator at a local RV plant, she got laid off 18 months ago. "Really, what has he been doing?" she said when I asked about Obama's efforts to help people like her. "I guess I don't know what he is doing...

...
But while these explanations may be valid, they are also incomplete. A sense of disappointment, bordering on betrayal, has been growing across the country, especially in moderate states like Indiana, where people now openly say they didn't quite understand the President they voted for in 2008. The fear most often expressed is that Obama is taking the country somewhere they don't want to go. "We bought what he said. He offered a lot of hope," says Fred Ferlic, an Obama voter and orthopedic surgeon in South Bend who has since soured on his choice. Ferlic talks about the messy compromises in health care reform, his sense of an inhospitable business climate and the growth of government spending under Obama. "He's trying to Europeanize us, and the Europeans are going the other way," continues Ferlic, a former Democratic campaign donor who plans to vote Republican this year. "The entire American spirit is being broken."

The profligate Keynesian spending might have actually had a positive effect, making Obama look like a genius, however any movement it might have given the economy was squashed flat by the Krazy Kenyan's attempts to ram through the uber-tax-hungry social agenda legislation.
Any business analyzing the HCRA impact and the spectre of Cap-n-Trade, plus other radical environmental policies, hanging over their heads would naturally pull back.  No amount of stimupork dumped into the economy short-term could make up for the obvious long-term costs of the social stuff.

All this trepidation, and the real tax bite for reg'lar Americans hasn't really occurred yet.

Next year will see the wheels come off of the Obama bus. Not only won't there be any room to put anybody under there due to the corpses that are already rotting there, but as there's no ground clearance, there ain't no room no more.

Other than his empty promises and rampant spending, the other thing that is making him unpopular are his exorbitant & frequent vacations. Here he and his family are, living like royalty while the rest of the country is suffering.

The Obama administration has betrayed their supporters worse than any other administration in history - by far.  Obama and his crew have also taken lying and deception to a previously unimaginable level.

So how's that Hopey Changey thing working out for you Libs?  How does it feel to have your policies and plans for turning this country into the next Socialist Utopia soundly rejected by majority of the country?

That and he left the banking system broken by refusing to recognize it as insolvent and reorganizing it which he had full power to do under federal laws.

I'm not talking nationalization either.

I rejected it in March 2009 when the real agenda came out.

What did you think he was going to do?
You weren`t here at the time but it was widely predicted the path that he went down...a far left, huge government over reach.

I hardly view anything he has done as left or right.  Mostly insane.

Good answer. I would add anti-American to that list as well. :cheersmate:
