"Given the recent activity of individuals who represent a threat to CONUS based installations, this CAN provides a reminder to commanders that advocacy of controversail events an social media can pose a threat to the US Army."
WTF? So if I read this correctly, supporting any social event that might piss off people who are trying to kill us may cause them to try to kill us?
"Background for this CAN shows that defamation of Islam as well as depictions of the Prophet Mohammed have been the modivating factor for several attempted attacks n various countries over the years."
How about defamation of Islam is the direct result of attacks by islamics around the country including 3,000 killed in New York City on Sept 11th, 2001?
"A review of the individuals who like this event on Facebook revieled that there are Soldiers who are present on the list....This could present a security risk to deployed and COMUS based Soldiers."
First off, a Special Agent of CID is scanning lists of anti-leftist events on Facebook and checking to see if there are soldiers on it?!?!? This is the same command who earlier this year sent out an alert for possible violence at a Tea Party rally in Colorado Springs warning commanders to tell their soldiers not to attend.
Bull ****ing Shit.
When it gets to the point where anyone in the Army are trying to force the rest of the Army to think along idiological lines, Left or Right, there is a serious problem.
As this memo was not classified I don't see the reason in not sharing it.

Sadly it happens all the time. part of it I can understand due to UCMJ regs about endorsing political figures movements etc. But it's getting down right Big Brother-ish.

I'm seeing a scary trend of folks in my MOS who are cozying up to media who support one political agenda over another. And we're supposed to be unbiased.

You're good.

I have no business saying this, but this post belongs in Breaking News.
Just sayin...

Yeah, they, the current ABOMination, want to keep the military unbiased, so it will follow their leftist/progressives. They don't want any "outside" interference. But, in my opinion, you should have a right to chose a party side if you like and go to their rallies/events. Isn't that the very reason that the military is fighting for?!?
-
I remember a long time ago that there was a KKK rally in Va Beach. (79?) CinCLant issued orders for the military folks to stay away or they would be brought up on charges. Things really haven't changed............
-
Okay, Thor--but there's a difference in attending a rally in which people EXPECT violence, and one in which criticism of a religion is expected to become violent.
To clarify--if I criticized Islam (out of uniform) and had somebody try to go all jihad on me for it, would that be the same as dressing up in a sheet and attending a Klan rally?
Not even close--and even you know that.
-
The gubbment aso gives new recruits sporting a Confederate Flag tatoo a hassle. They view it as potentially rascist.

Quite few Sailors attended that rally, I suppose more out of curiosity than anything. I saw plenty of them on the local news. They were out of uniform. The KKK weren't wearing robes & sheets, either. So, yes, it's almost the same.

That is sad that they would be treated like that it is a part of their heritage

Anyone who disagrees with their communist views are racists! :censored: :bird:

Lamb here we come to a very disturbing question that I myself have wondered about for years.
Heritage and the attempt to cling to the family history for good or bad.
If your forefathers died for the CSA why can not you fly the stars and bars in some parts of the south.?
If your grandfather died as a German patriot, why can you not fly a Swastika.?
If your neighbor is Japanese and lost family in WW2 why would they not be able to fly the rising sun.?
The Irish get their Parade each year, the Italians fly their flag, Brits fly their flag as do the Mexicans and the Gays.[ the Gays are not doing so for heritage as they would not be alive if their family was gay]
If the blacks would trace their family back to some part of Africa and want to fly that flag so be it. Problem is that the majority of blacks in America came here after our Civil war.
This was told to me by a black woman that related to me that her family came here in the 1880's to escape slavery and wars in Africa, she felt sorry for the slaves that had been freed that went back to Africa, they soon ended up in worse conditionions then they had here in America.
In DC we have the wall, the names of those who died in in that crazy Asian war , what do we do if the Vietnamese comunity finds it offensive, do we take it down.?
If the New Nazi Party wants to build across from the Holocaust Museum, what the heck do we do then.?
To go into the ridiculous and crazy them just suppose the Muslims want to build a Mosque 2 Blocks from the twin towers that are there no more. They would not have one chance in Hell of doing that, ----what, what--they are..?
But-but why are tax payers money going into this complex when we still have a huge hole in the ground, who is to help rebuild the Greek Christian Church near by.?
Crap if I won the lottery I would head for Atlanta, pay off all the city controllers and build a 200 foot statue of General Sherman next door to the capital.

And I, for one, would be there to protest your homage to a war criminal..........

But there was no UN and world court back then....so he got away with murder.

Something I just don't understand. If the military is supposed to be un-biased, then why do they get to vote? I think we can all agree the majority of soldiers, with boots on the ground, tend to vote right of center.
Sure seems pretty biased to me! It's ridiculous to tell a soldier they must remain neutral! It makes no sense!
Also makes no sense to curtail they're political involvement! They're more American than most! They take an oath to uphold our Constitution for cripes sake! Which other occupation besides gubmint has to do that? IMO, that makes them entitled to voice their opinion politically whenever they frikkin' feel like it!

:thatsright:
Oh shit!!!!!!! Here we go
And Vesta, the rebel or confedrate flag that everyone knows and is no longer flying over the capitol of SC isn't the "Stars and Bars" Do some damn research on it, (the first national flag of the confederacy) and tell me one place that the stars and bars isn't allowed to fly.
