America's Ten Dead Cities
Source: 24/7 Wall St.
A city does not die when its last resident moves away. Death happens when municipalities lose the industries and vital populations that made them important cities.
The economy has evolved so much since the middle of the 20th Century that many cities that were among the largest and most vibrant in America have collapsed. Some have lost more than half of their residents. Others have lost the businesses that made them important centers of finance, manufacturing, and commerce.
Most of America’s Ten Dead Cities were once major manufacturing hubs and others were important ports or financial services centers. The downfall of one city, New Orleans, began in the 1970s, but was accelerated by Hurricane Katrina. ...
1. Buffalo
2. Flint
3. Hartford
4. Cleveland
5. New Orleans
6. Detroit
7. Albany
8. Atlantic City
9. Allentown
10. Galveston

From the quoted article:
Notably, the rise of inexpensive manufacturing in Japan destroyed the ability of the industrial cities on this list to effectively compete in the global marketplace. Foreign business activity and US government policy were two of the three major blows that caused the downfall of these cities. The third was the labor movement and its demands for higher compensation which ballooned the costs of manufacturing in many of these cities as well.
They have it backwards of course. The first listed cause was only possible because of the two other causes, IMO.

1. Ten cities killed by PURPOSEFUL DISINVESTMENT.
Killed by capital.
They can kill anyplace they want to, just by pulling their money out.
Read the article you idiot. Unions and the government killed those cities.

8. the most dishonest phrase in this article is.......
"Death happens when municipalities lose the industries..." Municipalities do NOT "lose the industries", those industries are deliberately taken away by corporations looking for higher profits no matter how much they wreck their former clients, employees, and customers.
Businesses are in the business to make a profit. Municipalities and unions often make it impossible to do so.

13. Los Vegas? Entire state of Fla? Phoenix?
That list already feels out of date. There are cities dying all over this country as we speak...
That pace really accelerated in January 2009.

I can personally vouch for Albany's spot on that list.

It just doesn't seem they want to make the correlation of Progressive policy and the failure of these and other cities, and add to that our inability to have an honest discussion about race when it comes to this issue, why is it that the crime ridden areas of these cities are mostly black whereas the safer areas are mostly white? again, how has Progressive policies improved the lives of those in the black community? and can it be totally blamed on Progressive policies? you have Progressive whites who are living in mostly white neighborhoods, so what's the determining factor?

All of historys failures of leftism has to be blamed on a mysterious and evil bogeyman.
It is the only way they protect their infantile minds from collapsing so that they can believe they always should have everything they want given to them.

No, they don't. There are two things required to have a 401k, neither of which are DUmmy-friendly: A decent paying job, and a desire to save for retirement.
