McCain Beats Back Hayworth in GOP Primary, Holds Senate Seat
Sen. John McCain fended off Republican challenger J.D. Hayworth in the Arizona Senate primary Tuesday, virtually assuring he'll keep his seat in November despite signs earlier in the year that the anti-Washington wave could wipe out one of Capitol Hill's most influential residents.

sigh
oh well another RINO gets reeelected.

-
Yeah, not much to celebrate here.
-
Guess the Dems keep that seat.
-
Geez and I thought Arizonians were waking up. :banghead:
-
That's unfortunate. At least it will be technically a Republican seat when it comes to caucus counting, though.

I have no clue why they elected McAmesty of all people with all of the problems at the border. :banghead:

According to the Arizona radio talk show guy (saw the clip on Fox & Friends which featured Neal Asbury as well), McLame's war chest from his presidential election bid came into play. Arizonans simply bought the drivel that McLame repainted himself as an anti-illegal, which is about as far from the truth as Lord Zero is a conservative God-fearing American.

Yeah, I heard them say that McSame blew $20 mil on the campaign, Hayworth had nowhere near that level of resources. An immensely-larger war chest also carried the day in the FL gubernatorial race, I gather.

He did make a pretty speech last night. 99% of it was all bullshit.

Looks like old Juan McCain came through again, though I wanted him to retire - he's been in the Senate waaaaay too long as it is. Yes, he did have a huge war chest and ran far to the right again to get the votes, but his opponent was a little too corrupt and "entrenched" as well. Sarah Palin's endorsement of Juan didn't hurt either.

With JD as the opposition I'm afraid I'd have held my nose and voted for McShame. Hayworth is just nuts and no conservative either.
-
Exactly how is Hayworth not conservative?
-
Did the democrats run Hayworth? ...........................Alvin Greene/mode

I don't know for sure, but I thought AZ was a closed primary state, or used to be. As for Hayworth, he IS a conservative, but he had dark clouds over his head by past corruption charges and he was a big proponent of earmarks in the past.

Though I hate to say it, McCain had to win.
If McCain had lost it would have been a very useful tool for the Democrats to use against Palin, Scott Brown, and the whole TEA party movement. Also, there is Rand Paul, who is already on the fringe, and Hayworth was coming off as another fringe Libertarian type.
The last thing the TEA movement, and the GOP in general needs is an extremist image.
So far, it has done well in avoiding that label from the MSM, but all it will take are a couple of odd candidates and a few spectacular losses to create an atmosphere of TEA implosion. The GOP and the populist TEA movement has momentum with about 10 weeks left. Shutting that down would be a liberal's wet dream...And for us a nightmare of Elm Street proportions.
We need to keep the populist, squishy image for now. Once we are in and things improve, we can work to tie up a few loose ends like McCain.

Now John McShame can help Lord Zero "legalize" illegals!! :bird: :censored:
