My local paper is owned by RightHaven, LLC. One reader wrote a letter to the editor about the recent price increase on the Sunday paper. I saw this as an opportunity to blast RightHaven, LLC and point out their lawsuit happy lawyers. Got some real genius's on that site Thor.
Someone makes a snarky comment about it being Bush's fault and another poster pipes in defending Bush. :rotf:
The original poster YOU? Excellent rebuttal.

Has this forum been a target of Right Haven yet? Also, has this forum gotten any DMCA complaints?

No, we have not. We'd like to keep it that way.

Good. I am surprised no one has sent a DMCA complaint here for the past 2 years. Another person who has a history of sending DMCA is Michael Crook. He pulled this crap before after he appeared on Hannity and Colmes.

Thor, not sure what I am allowed to post concerning this RighHaven deal so I'll just point you to one of my other favorite sites I've seen commenting on this subject...getting interesting.
http://www.blackfive.net/
It mentions how you can block any Stephen's Media/Righthaven protected media outlets from being linked to a site such as this.

Links from RightHaven owned subsidiaries, I THINK, are acceptable. Any content, partially quoted or not, is DEFINITELY NOT acceptable.

One of the sites that got sued by RightHaven, Second Amendment Sisters, just had a link to a RightHaven owned site. It was not partially quoted from what I understand. Many of them are non-political sites.

I would bet that one went no where in court. There would be no way a judge would agree that linking to a site violates copyright. Several sites tried suing Google for that same thing.

I can't see where a link to another website could be a problem. After all, that would drive traffic to that site. That's kind of what they want. Pictures, material, writings, etc definitely could be, but I'm not a lawyer.

Is my understanding here correct:
We can initiate a post containing our own personal opined comment then add the relevant link but we must not add *ANY* actual copy-n-paste content from the linked article per RightHaven legal attacks?
I would presume that is safe for this forum, yes?
(I know, I needs it spelled out for me...)

Yes.
If you want to avoid them entirely, there is this option. (http://www.conservativecave.com/index.php/topic,47673.0.html) I decided to install it since I have to review links and posts here anyway. It makes my job easier.
