In Illinois, Doctors Refusing to Treat Women Who've Had Abortions
http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/blog/2010/08/17/reproduct...

I want to focus, however, on one particularly disturbing obstacle that was mentioned in city after city: doctors refusing to care for women who have had abortions. Mind you, these are not doctors refusing to perform abortions. What we heard, in three separate communities, was that there are doctors who refuse to perform routine post-abortion check-ups or even to provide care for completely unrelated ailments to women who previously had abortions. What’s worse, in two instances we heard that these doctors were some of the few who were accepting Medicaid patients at all – meaning that poor women would have to face greater obstacles to receive needed medical care. In one instance, we heard of a doctor throwing a patient’s medical records on the ground and storming out after he learned she had had an abortion.

these men are not Doctors, they are religiously insane doctors who need psychiatric counseling.
women should never go to them. religiously insane men are misogynists too.

18. Um, Hippocratic Oath? Ever hear of that?
Moron.
Um, yeah, where is that Hippocratic Oath when it comes to killing unborn babies? Moron.

15. Actually, I think they're probably the very same people.
Scratch an anti-choicer, find a white supremacist.
Wait a minute. I thought that all racist, white-supremacists were stupid redneck hicks. Explain to me how they got a license to practice medicine?

8. A doctor can turn down a patient, but in an area where few doctors accept Medicaid, this
should not be happening.
Also, doctors should not be able to practice under the auspices of their religious ideology unless they want to work for the church.
Yet I'll bet that you support forcing Catholic hospitals into providing abortion don't you.
These DUmmies are in for a rude surprise when more and more doctors stop taking Medicade/Medicare patients.

I guess the "We retain the right to refuse service" freedom doesn't apply to Doctors, apparently.
Freedom for me, but not for thee! DUmpster constitution amendment #2!
-
I think there's more to this story, abortions can have complications, and I'm sure since the Doctors are the few who accept Medicaid, they have very little time to devote to women who've had abortions because of the possibility of complications either after the abortion or down the road.

A person walking into a hospital emergency room, can not be refused treatment.
A person walking into a doctor's private practice office, is not guaranteed treatment.
I can understand why a doctor, who did not perform the abortion, would not want to do follow-up treatments to the woman. The doctor is not necessarily going to want to assume the responsibility for another doctor's actions, particularly if the doctor does not condone abortions....nor is he required to by law or the Hippocratic Oath.
I can also understand why a doctor, who does not condone abortions, not want to be the "doctor of choice" for a woman who has had one or more abortions. While the number of women who have a second abortion, is considerably lower than those who have a first....said doctor may not want to be put in the position of being asked to do another one, or does not wish to care for a woman who has had multiple abortions.
If it's a private practice....a doctor has a right to be "selective" regarding his patients. Just as a patient has a right to pick their physician....provided their insurance agrees, or pay out of pocket.

Obamacare will usher in tens of thousands of sub-educated and inexperienced third world doctors and the problem is solved.

It may be that these doctors are GP's and aren't up on the very latest treatments of post-abortion complications. If a woman has had a drug-induced abortion like the morning after pill, there can be more complications than for the so-called normal surgical procedures.

Could be the doc doesn't want to treat a patient that has put a zero value on the life of her child!

Exactly how do doctors know that women have had previous abortions? ::) This is not something that automatically ends up in your health record! Abortion clinics are not only not required to give out patient info, they are specifically required not to...unless it's "medically significant." I call BS on the whole story.

My thoughts exactly. And, there is the question of who paid for said abortion if these women are on Medicaid? Buy some damn protection next time idiot, it's cheaper and doesn't cause the death of an unborn. Oh, and it help prevents STD's also, don't they teach that in school any more?

Some schools teach nothing else.... :banghead:

Patient histories sometimes ask for number of pregnancies, miscarriages, and abortions.
Therefore the doctor knows if the woman admitted it on the form, or when asked, told the doctor they had one.
Doctors are allowed to ask.

The hospital I gave birth to my daughter at does not perform abortions. I bet that really pisses off the DUmmies. They better start a thread about how "unfair" it is considering this hospital has three locations in the surrounding area.

Which is funny, considering Planned Parenthood and Margret Sanger wanted to eliminate blacks

If you're Caucasian and don't submit to the socialist, liberal malarkey of the left, you're automatically a "White Supremacist"!

Oh well, as long as you "heard" from someone (maybe someone who knew someone who's sister's boyfriend's cousin had it happen to her) who may or may not be mad about something else without any proof whatsoever this happened, it must be true because someone at DU read it on a liberal blog. Well, I say take away their medical license!
BTW, doesn't the Hippocratic Oath say something about "doing no harm"? Wouldn't ripping a baby from the nurturing warmth of its mother's womb be harmful?

Naw Cin, cause they are sure it's just a lump of useless flesh until it takes a breath of our polluted air!
Degenerates!

Not enough info as per the usual DUmmie. Maybe these women have had botched abortions and the doctors are just trying not to get involved in a lawsuit that is not of their own making.

Which is probably how the doctors know the women had abortions.
