Campfire is a few days old, but what a read.

Do you know anyone who has committed suicide?
I know three people - all adults 40+ years of age - who have succesfully done so since April of this year.
There was nothing I did to cause it, nothing I could have done to prevent it, and I had no reason to expect it.
I am really pissed off at the choices they made - and the scars they left behind.

56. Yes. Two. And they were both guys in their 20s.
And, yes, it does leave unimaginable devastation. And I firmly believe that if both of them had just hung in there, waited it out, they would have gotten past what was causing them such pain and gone on to live happier lives. They both had such promise.
Source of my title.

20. Suicide is not rational
It's usually an act committed by people who are severely mentally ill. I take three head meds now days.
I know you're angry and I doubt that there's anything I can say to change that. But if you want to talk about it in more detail feel free to give me a PM.
There's nothing wrong with you. Stop taking the meds. :evillaugh:

21. Two for sure, and possibly a third.
The two were acquaintances more than friends, though one was a family member of a good friend, so I was affected more by her pain than by my own dismay.
The third, I'm still not convinced he actually, intentionally killed himself. I think he was self-medicating, and it got out of hand. He was one of my oldest friends whom I'd known since first grade.
It's sad to have lost these people, to think about the times we might still have had together and the potential they might have achieved - but I can't be angry with them. It is ultimately their life and their choice. While I certainly would have tried to talk them out of it if I could, I can't dictate to someone else what they can and cannot do with their own life - just as I wouldn't have someone dictate to me. I don't believe that we are beholden to others in what is most uniquely, most personally, our own - nor that someone should continue to endure unspeakable pain simply for the sake of others. I have no rights over their personal choices in this regard, just as they have no rights over mine.
The world mourns the loss of another junkie.

41. Far too many
I can think of 4 right off the bat - the most recent was a close friend who blew her brains out at her kitchen table. I'm not pissed at any of them. I understand what that feels like. What it feels like to believe that your loved ones would be better off without you. It's not true but it can seem it to the desperate.
I've also lost a whole bunch of friends to murder and a bunch more to drug OD's, alcohol and sheer stupid accident. I'm not mad at anyone. I just miss them all.
WOW!!

46. No, but I prevented one 20 minutes ago.
I'm not kidding. I was just outside with some neighbors when I noticed a young woman standing on the ledge of a bridge, clearly looking to jump. I pointed her out and one of my neighbors called 911. By then, a big crowd had gathered and thankfully, the cops were able to pull her down. I hope she's okay.
Another lying DUmmy trying to steal the spotlight.
They really do lead narcissistic lives. I, me, mine to the very end.

I have known of some folks that have either tried or did kill themselves, maybe a half dozen or less through 45+ years of life.
It isn`t very populated out here in the sticks but even taking that into account I would have to suggest to the DUmmies that you all really need to get over yourselves and get on with life.
To be associated with that many folks who would be in a state such as one would have to be to commit suicide should be a wake up call.
You all love the self pity and hopeless misery though so you never will.

Bingo. I've known more people that have died from cancer or automobile accidents... not a single suicide that I know of.

I like this one!!

HA HA! This coming from a dude/dudette that is on 3 "head meds" nowadays?!?!? lolllll... You stupid DUmmie! :bird: He just admitted to being mentally ill. :loser:

I've known two suicides. The sister of my first wife. A liberal burned out drug addict, hippie. The second was my uncle. He was in the south pacific during the second world war. He got shot up pretty bad while on an Japanese occupied island. He ended up losing a limb. He never did recover mentally.
That whole thread is mind boggling.

That's pretty common. You should read some of the threads about how many are on disability and medical retirement.
-
I just prevented my neighbor from killing himself just three seconds ago.
I'm a hero!
How many DUmmies are on medication? It seems like every person who replied to that thread is downing at least one pill a day.

Just about every DUmmy on the island claims some form of mental disturbance yet they still believe they should be the policy makers for the country.
-
I have prevented several suicides......I paid my taxes which allowed DUmmies to get on SS disability and get their head drugs.
-
There's enough death at that campfire to populate a medium size city. Think of all the money the Government is saving by all those pre death panel suicides.
-
The only suicide that I know personally was the father of a friend in high school.
I can't imagine being surrounded by so many people who would commit suicide, not to mention the one who said that she had numerous friends who were murdered or who OD'd. What must your life be like with so much constant drama?

That is why they are void of all common sense and want the gubberment to "take care" of them.

I can only think of 1 person, the husband of a former co-worker, I didn't know him well at all, but that's it.
-
I never had any around for a long time, and then in one year's time, I had two. One was an Iraq vet, and one was an older man, who got laid off.
-
I've only known 3, well unless you count my mother who drank herself to death, all were friends of my mom and all were men. There's just something about that "coming of age in the 60's" generation. They all shot themselves in the head. The only one I remotely understand was a guy who was in a wheelchair and felt he was a burden to his family and just couldn't handle being in a chair for the rest of his life.

Let's see . . . there was the father of a high school classmate. Then, about nine-ten years ago, there was the mother of a young woman I knew from an anti-abortion ministry (post-partum depression). Both hung themselves. I helped to stop someone from ODing on Motrin while I was in my Officer Basic Course at FT Gordon. He was also drunk, and had a loaded Smith & Wesson Model 66 under his driver's seat, which we didn't know about until the next day.
-
I only know one - he was a friend of my sister's husband. He was terminally ill. - Though he would tell nobody what ailed him, we believe it was pancreatic cancer. He was fine. Then he was diabetic. Then he lost part of a foot. Then he became wheelchair bound. All in less than 6 months time. It involved a .38 under the chin. He loaded two in, in case the first failed. He manged to sever his jugular with the first, making the second unnecessary. And, since he chose a small caliber firearm, there was no massive mess to deal with.
Though he left no note, he made it clear he did not intend to be a burden to his family. Very sad.
-
Good grief!! If they can't find enough daily events over which to express seething anger and misery, they come up with threads where they can dwell in it.

Some folks, unfortunately, do live with such daily drama. I have a friend from 30 years ago who will call me yet today with her drama. She has bipolar disorder, she and her sister both have been suicidal, her birth family hates her, her husband and kid, etc. --- you get the picture.
It is sad, not funny, when it is a friend. She only calls me from cross-country when she is on the downside and feeling lost every few years. That's why it's a manic-depressive disorder. The rest of the time, she's fine.
As far as her politics - we have never talked about it. She's apolitical I'd guess - her real life consumes her.

They're not mental! They just want over the counter "get me high" drugs! If they were all as depressed as they profess to be, there'd be a heck of a lot more DUmmies jumpin' off that bridge!
Just sayin'.....

The DUmmies are the reason those that really are in need of medications such as my pain killers make doctors leery of prescribin' them!
Case in point: My prescriptions state right on them, "Must last 30 days"! Doesn't matter whether I have good days or bad days, they gotta last 30 days! This month, I'm gonna be 2 days short, so I'm gonna have 2 very bad days!
Asshats!
The other thing is the "fakers"! Those that "pretend" they have back injuries just in the hope their doctor will right them a codeine script. Those are the arseholes I reeeeeeeeealy detest! makes my legitimate requests all that more difficult!

I tend to think that showing an MD the x-rays of those screws could convince him . . .

They're all afraid the DEA will prosecute 'em for over medicatin' their clients! That's what the fakers have done for me and others like me.
To say nuttin' of the hoops ya have to jump thru for any kind of disability! In my case, at least so far, it's more trouble than it's worth!

Man, I am sorry you are dealing with such pain.

Pain is relative! Somethin' DUmpster DIvers have never had to face.
I do just fine as long as my meds take the edge off. The last Doc I shit canned, had me on methadone. The prick! He failed to mention it's worse to get off of than heroin! SumBitch had me hooked pretty bad! Took me 6 weeks to feel normal again when I realized the damage it was doin'!
I'll stick with the codeine. At least it's not nearly the withdrawals if I run out early.
I been doin' this for damn near 15 years, as long as it doesn't rule you, it's pretty easy to rule it!

Well good then, I'm glad you are in control. I got the gist that it's back pain.
I had an incident with a back injury 20 years ago that was absolutely excruciatingly unbearable. It still hurts a little, but I know what you mean - you learn to live with it. Best wishes :-)

Everytime I read a thread started by a DUmmy I want to kill myself. :lmao:
