Why doesn't Congress come up with a Small Business Creation
program, by making grants or loans for people with ideas to start a new small business? They could offer the grants of $10,000. or so as start-up for people to employ at least 5 people in a new small business. I'm sure there are many unemployed out there with ideas - but no cash to start up or buy into a franchise...

There are already grants and such in place and have been for years. However the business climate is so bad right now. No one wants to take the risk. Besides 10K wouldn't cover the taxes for the health care bill much less open the doors for a business.

24. ask yourself "how would this program aid corporations and/or banks?"
and you will find your answer.
I think banks would love hold the money of small business and use that money to make more money.

Lets see...$10,000.00 grant....uh....ain't going far if the dude wants into the grading business....
1/2 million for medium size buldozer...300 thou for a loader...125 thou for dump truck...125 for a truck tractor and another 40 thou for a lowboy....250 thou for a trackhoe....hell, that's over a million and half dollars and he ain't got insurance, tags, license fees and operating funds yet.
That's the problem with DUmmies...they think small...very small.

19. why should they just hand $ over to the GOP? most mom and pops are GOP
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 09:26 PM by pitohui
i would like this for myself but in the reality based universe almost every person i have to deal w. by a large majority as a self-employed/small business is ****ing republican/semi-nazi
if i was a democratic leader i wouldn't give us money either, most of these ****wits turn around and give it to david duke or whoever the fascist of the day is
small business DOESN'T support democrats, small business is usu. abt ****ing the little guy out of fair pay/fair benefits...sorry to say it but down here on the ground it's true
$10K is nothing to start a business if you've never had one, it won't help you anyway, and for the long time mom & pop they've donated more than that over the years to david duke, david vitter, and the rest of the ****wits...
i can't get behind this proposal even tho it would benefit me because it would benefit WAY more bad guys
than good guys
if you think $10K would help you start a business, i'm going to say very respectfully that you must have never had a business, $10K is a joke -- if all you needed was $10K we'd just do it on credit cards and nobody would hold a j-o-b job

My Husband and I have been self-employed for a decade now, we started the business for under $1,000 and we're still in business, just sayin!

It's not impossible however, most businesses require more than 10K just for equipment alone.
I also believe with all the taxes and whatnot coming down the pike even a business like yours will cost more than a grand to get off the ground.

It takes more than 10K just to grease the palms of the licensing and permits agents. The only type of business you could start with 10K and hire 5 employees is an unlicensed pharmacist.

I worked for a guy who took a $10,000 investment in some raw unprocessed data and within 5 years was the head of his own multi-million, multi-division company acquiring and processing his own data. He did it through hard work, lemme repeat the important part for any lurking DUmmies, HARD WORK. After the 5 years he hired some smart people to run it all for him and he enjoyed some of the fruits of his labor. 4 years down the road after I'd left he sold the company and hasn't had to work in the 25 years since.

My husband has been self-employed and an LLC for almost 20 yrs now. I can't remember what his initial start-up $ amount was but it was definitely under 1k, as well, BG.
Hey, DUmmies -- Walmart has small business loans available . . . why don't you try applying?? :evillaugh: :fuelfire:

We started a maintenance business for under $1,000, just hubby and I as the employees at the time, and insurance and becoming an LLC was included in that $1,000. I had wanted to start an answering service, that would've cost us over $10,000, we had $20,000 that we could play with but we were nervous spending that so we said let's try starting a maintenance company and see how that goes, within 3 months of starting hubby was able to quit his fulltime job that he stayed with just in case this didn't work out.

Yep! we're incorporated too. It depends on the type of business you go into. We had $20,000 to start a business, we looked into starting 1 type of business but were nervous about putting out over $10,000, so I quit my job, hubby kept his, and we decided to try a low cost start-up business 1st, and it worked out for us.

HA HA!!
All of a sudden the DUmmies are concerned about jobs?!?!? :mental: Ask them what their Lord Zero is doing about jobs. The short answer, killing them! :censored:

I sharpen saw blades on the side. The initial cost for the machine, the cheapie, I might add, was nearly 2 grand and that doesn't include the carbide wheels ya have to have for today's carbide blades. You can kinda figure it's not makin' a whole heck of a lot a dough right now seein' how wonderful the construction trade is goin'.
I've decided to build a CNC wood router for wooden signs and cabinet decor. Seems a lot of folks around here are upgrading their abodes rather than sell because Zero's economy is doin' so well they've lost their equity. Just the parts and software is goin' to run $2500!
At least I live in a state where the bureaucratic BS is still at a minimum. Otherwise I wouldn't have the cash! I ain't borrowin' nuttin from the Bummer! I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of takin' credit for my job!
I sure as hell ain't goin' to hire anyone! I wouldn't have a clue how to jump the hoops in the healthcare debacle!

Hey, Obama can only create so many Chinese jobs, you know.

Wrong, sir!!!
Why, right now I'd say that Lord Zero is on the cusp of creating a whole slew of new GOP congress critter jobs! :hyper:
