The Zeus Virus- BEWARE!!
The Zeus Trojan, called the “most dangerous virus ever created†has stolen £675,000 from a British financial institution, and it isn’t done yet.
It is like the plot of a Hollywood movie, only the bad guys are definitely winning so far. Earlier this week, the internet security group M86 uncovered a Trojan virus targeting an unnamed financial institution in the UK. The “Zeus Trojan†has already siphoned off over $1 million from over 3,000 British customers between July 5 and August 4, and it shows no signs of stopping.

Also, most anti-viruses & anti-malware seems to NOT be able to detect it

Thanks for the heads up! That has to be the most dangerous virus/trojan out there. Whoever is behind this virus needs to be punished harshly.
-
Thank's for the warning.

How much you wanna bet it's either a Chinese or Russian hacker(s)?
-
Thanks for the warning. I guess if it the "most dangerous virus ever" at least it has an appropriate name.

I was wondering why my computer was running so friggin slow last night.
-
But this thing isn't designed to crash computers, is it?
-
This is just going to give the DUmmies a whole new excuse for why they are bouncing checks and overdrawing on their debit cards.

But this thing isn't designed to crash computers, is it?
No, it's designed to lie in wait until a person accesses their online banking and then activates and steals information & passwords.

"If" they catch these people, I say people because this type of attack is usually done by a group, they need to be shot!!!!!!!!!
It's time to quit screwin' with these people!
Mods, it might be a good idea to sticky this to all our most popular threads as I wouldn't even wish this on a DUmmie!
ETA:
A little tip for our more uninformed 'puter users, always, always, always, use a router or some form of FireWall! Did I say always?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never ever, if it can be helped, hook your 'puter directly to your high speed modem!

Thanks for the head up.
I caught a blurb on the news the other day, but didn't catch any details.

Its stuff like this that makes me glad to be a Linux user. But even so, I am behind a router= with a hardware firewall - a Linksys WRT54G v2 modded with DD-WRT firmware. noting goes into or leaves the home network without me knowing about it.

Tomato?

Tomato?
I wasn't that impressed with it - Tomato has a nicer interface, but I just don't like the feel of it. DD-WRT suits me well, as the router I have is one of the 16MB models, allowing me to load up the full feature set with ease. And it never crashes. The only time I have ended up resetting the router has been when I unplugged it to move it, or we had a power outage.

I half suspect that the people that create these viruses are employed by Best Buy. A Virus you say? Geek Squad to the rescue!!

Not a chance. Their Geek Squad members aren't computer literate enough to write virus programs.
