But the truth is less provocative. The project is sponsored by the Cordoba Initiative, a group whose stated mission is to achieve an "atmosphere of interfaith tolerance and respect" among Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The $100 million building they want to construct, called Park51 (for its address on Park Place) is not a mosque as such, but rather a community center with a restaurant, a swimming pool, a performing arts center, and, yes, prayer space. (Muslims, by the way, already gather weekly in the existing building to pray. Should they be barred from doing so?)
And it's not at ground zero. Park Place is a small street two blocks north of where the twin towers stood. The intervening blocks have buildings taller than the planned center. Someone standing at ground zero, in other words, would not be aware of Park51's existence; though when the Freedom Tower finally rises from the World Trade Center's footprints, it will be visible throughout most of lower Manhattan and beyond. Park51 will be just another building in what Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a defender of the project, called the "diverse and dense" city.
The symbolism of a Muslim community center being just another building in the shadow of the Freedom Tower is one we should embrace. It speaks to our diversity and the strength of our ideals. It's certainly more attractive than that of political leaders in the world's most powerful nation rallying to deny its most fundamental rights to a tiny minority.
:banghead: Yeah right sure it is....

They haven't even built it yet and they're already fussing about potential nieghbors.

It speaks of diversity and the strength of our ideals, huh?!?!? What happens when they start harboring terrorists from overseas or from within the U.S., you piece of garbage?!? Do you think you are exempt from their terrorism, you f'en idiot?!?!!? :bird: :censored: :bird:
I'm so sick of the diversity talk. Yet, I still have yet to hear or read an article about any Muslim group(s) saying that this mosque should not be build. See?!!? Now they're not being "sensitive" to my feelings/ideals.

O'Reilly had a lady Muslim on, Monday night? who said it should not be built.
Fox and Friends had a Muslim man on this morning, who said it should not be built.
I think it was someone on the show after Fox and Friends, whatever they call it....who said there have now been 4 people (Muslim) on different Fox shows that have said it should not be built. They also said that Fox was the only channel that had had any Muslims on their networks that have said it should not be built.

Dont'cha love it when these Libtard Jackasses bend over and kiss their own ass?
All i can say is it would be a shame, a shame I tell ya, if the Mosque had "accidents" while under construction. :fuelfire:

It should be damned near impossible for the sunzabitches to keep all the nice, greasy bacon strips off the door handles to that monstrosity.

Did you get their names by any chance?
Sometimes I think leftists are more dangerous than Muslims because they are the enablers. Enablers are just as dangerous than the aggressors. After all, Communism, Nazism, and Fascism were leftists and killed 200,000,000 people. Many terrorists were radical leftsits.

I do believe it's time the American Pork Council relocated, so they can become downright neighborly with the ragheads. Tolerance and all that. :-)

I'm thinking as neighbors they'll need a gay bar to the left, a Temple to the right, the new WalMart World of Pork, Museum, Test Kitchens and Gift shop out back and across the street, Sonny's real pit BBQ restaurant where every night can be All-You-Can-Eat rib night.

Now I see DingleBarry has come out in support of the mosque. I'm shocked.

Danger Zone, I be a thinking.
Nothing is being done by the Muslims today that was not in some way carried out by the Jews and Christians a few thousand years ago.
The difference is TIME, and God gave us all a brain and free will to understand that as civilization marched on, science grew, our minds expanded and we of the Jew-Christian movement began to question the mind set of the past.
The mind set of the Muslims stayed back in the fundamental belief in their faith. There are a few exceptions to this, the founder of the Baha'i faith that was to become a Marta for his cause.
So in almost 2,000 years as we read a book that holds the history of humans on earth, we are faced with people that to this day follow our Bible, accept Jesus as a great phropet the old testament in all its glory yet have somehow come to live their lives under the writings of a mad man.
This thinking has not changed to accept science as a part of Gods plan, they live in fear of God, in no way do they move on into history when it comes to their man made traditions.
When the Muslim comes to the far west, America they try to continue their traditions and find they are not exceptable to the society they moved into. Worse they find their children being educated in Western ways are thinking on their own, doing what has never been done before, rebelling against their parents traditions and beliefs.
Sad that this whole thing is not really about religion, it is a conflict about age old traditions that are different among all sects of faith.

Bullshit, Vesta. The correct way to phrase what you just wrote is as follows:
Nothing is being done by the Muslims today that was not in some way carried out by Musliims against the Jews and Christians a few thousand years ago.
Don't get me wrong: Christians have in their past committed attrocities to the envy of any genocidal maniac, and for as small an "empire" as David handed down to his sons, The Kingdom of Israel lacked no immagination in enforcing conformity in it's conquered lands. Both religions combined however, can scarcely hold a candle to the utter body count and sheer depravity purpetrated by Muslims in the name of and under the explicit authority and direction of their Prophet, their book of scripture, and their bloody-handed deity over the entirety of the past 1,400 years. To say nothing of fair, it's not even a RATIONAL comparision to make, ma'am.

This is like trying to find the worlds worse destroyer and comparing Russia, Germany, Cambodia, China and Japan.
One cannot compair the Jews and the Christians for the title of the worse treated people, Christians go back 2,000 years and the Jews from the beginning of time.
But a good reading of the Old Testament will show you that the Jews themselves took up the sword and from time to time marched on unsuspecting governments by the order of God. They wiped out at Gods command all living creatures down to leaving nothing but bugs alive.
The Christians later on in history marched on the Muslims with their blood up to the flanks of their horses.
They managed to destroy the cultures of South America, then later turned on themselves when the great witch hunts began in Europe. An estimated one million woman were killed as supposed witches perhaps that is a very low count.
In today's world of science and technology we now face the old Boogie Man from the past.
We have come a far piece in the last few hundred years, mankind has grown in mind and spiritually.
How do we in this day and age handle this Ghost from the past. Do we allow the Faith Of Our Fathers to be be trampled on and put in its place.? Do we give up all the science we have gained to the ignorant and dangerous ? Do we allow those with the mentality of caveman to march in and take the most precious gift God gave us, the right to free will.?
Defiant, Religion and Politics go hand and hand. Each sucks off the other. We today face a battle not of religion but of humanity, sort of like we today wonder about the ancient civilizations with their astounding creations that have been lost in time. Where did they go, why did they go, will we go the same way as them, lost for thousand of years as we have allowed our sympathetic side to over rule our need for survival?
BTW check up on how David became a king under God. Was it not because Saul felt sympathy for another human and caused the wrath of God.

Appeasement at all costs, the New York dimocrat way.

Yes he did. I'm going to miss the crusty old bastard. He was a huge part of that show and it may not recover. We'll have to see how they handle losing him. The kids struggling to keep the boat going may get people wrapped up in it for another season or 2. But unless another funny, down to earth Phil type emerges the hole he left may sink everything.
IMO Edgar Hanson has the potential but he'd have to resolve his problems and bump Sig out of the spotlight to do it and I don't think he really wants to. His injury and his tired-of-it-all feelings may chase him off. If he leaves too the show's over.

Holy crap!....I had forgotten all about the fact that it's off-limits to LE because it's also a place of worship!!! :thatsright:
Knowing that no LE can go in there, makes me even more concerned about what will go on withing the exterior walls....
