I am working on a website for a public figure in a small town that is currently running for re-election.
I'm not the most artistic person in the world, but I manage to cobble things together when I need to. I need suggestions for font choices for the main title. The title currently has a Helvetica-style 48-point header at the top with the candidates name and I think it looks a little bland. Replacing it with something fancy like Papyrus would be overkill, but I'm looking for something a little nicer than Helvetica and I'm stumped.

Comic Sans..................................................... :evillaugh:

Generally, titles should be done with a sans serif font. Arial works well because it's SIMPLE.
Simple is good. Complexity represented by serif fonts in titles - not so good.
-
I'm trying to avoid a serif font, but Helvetica is so dull. I need something else.

Berlin sans FB Demi?
It's heavy, but not dull. Sorta contemporary too.
-
A little too contemporary.

Estrangelo Edessa?

I like Verdana. It's common and I like that style.....

Franklin Gothic?

Cailbri and Verdana are good substitutes for Arial.
I second the suggestion for sans serifs. Serifs are OK printed but on lit, flicker monitors they can lead to eye strain.
Times Roman or Bookman Old Style are OK.
You also need to make sure the letters are not too close together. Remember, it isn't what you find acceptable but what your audience is perceiving, even if they aren't 100% conscious of their perceptions.
A good font for section headings is Impact and most machines should have it installed.
Be certain to use softer tones in the colors as well. The dull grayish blue of the default format of this forum is an excellent example. A bright blue would be crushing on the eyes. And above all else
AVOID YELLOW!

Yeah, Snugs, Times New Roman is a serif font, as is Bookman Old Style.
I'm sure you have a headache by now, what with all the Thor :hammer: going on.

I like Verdana for a headline. Arial is my favorite font in the history of fonts.
What's up with Thor?

I played two dead gigs in my career on trumpet.
Each time I played "Taps" there was a whirling sound within the casket. I concluded that I should stop that practice out of respect for the dead.

I'd have to say Arial. Tried and true choice.
