Lost your car keys in that Bermuda Triangle between your front door and the table in the hall? Can't find the plumber's number that you scribbled on a Post-It note by the phone before it vanished?
Well, then Michael Solomon - the author of How To Find Lost Objects and the world's only professor in a new, incredibly useful science he's dubbed 'findology' - is your man.
Use his 12 findology tips and, chances are, those car keys or that Post-It note will suddenly reappear as if by magic.
The first tip is wonderfully comforting to anyone who's experienced that lurching 'I've lost my wallet' feeling.
'Don't look for it,' says Solomon, aged 66. 'Something's lost and your first thought - your basic instinct - is to look for it. To hunt for it in a random, and increasingly frenetic, fashion. This is the most common mistake people make. Wait until you have some idea where to look.'
Solomon's second principle sums up the essential findologist's philosophy: 'It's not lost; you are.' He says: 'There are no missing objects. Only unsystematic searchers.'
Which brings us on to tip number three, addressing the fact that blind panic actually prevents us finding the lost item. ...

My cordless home phones have a button that locates the phone for me.
My Jeep and car have a Low Jack device to find them if stolen
My dogs and cats are micro chipped.
I wish I could afford one of those medallions for my mom that will summon help if she falls.

I dunno. I sorta think that "findology" is a lost cause.

You seem to be missing the point, Eupher.....

Are you saying that finding findology is a discover's art? Maybe it shouldn't have been lost to antiquity to begin with.....

Maybe some things just need to be gone?

Yeah, but the guy is saying never to lose anything again. What if I wanna lose 50 lbs? Is he gonna compel me to find it after I lose it?

Maybe you'll get lucky and find £50?

In order to find it, I've got to lose it first. I haven't seen a 50 pound note in many years, so it's not likely that I lost it to begin with.
