President Obama will test his hoops skills before an important audience and against some big names in professional basketball Sunday afternoon, to coincide with a birthday-weekend barbecue at the White House.
The Phoenix Suns' Grant Hill says he's in town for a presidential pick-up game with the First Basketballer, along with a handful of other pros, including the Houston Rockets' Shane Battier.
The group will play before "wounded warriors" -- troops injured in action -- as well as participants in the White House's mentoring program, at Fort McNair in Southwest Washington, according to an Associated Press report.
The president is known for throwing a few elbows on the court and for having a fierce determination to win. But the 6-foot-2 commander in chief may have his work cut out for him. Hill and Battier are both 6-8.
With his wife and kids gone for the weekend, Obama is making it an all-sports-all-the-time weekend. He spent four hours at the Andrews Air Force Base golf course Saturday with old friends from Chicago and Hawaii, including Wahid Hamad, Laurent Delanney, Marvin Nicholson, Greg Orme, Bobby Titcomb, Michael

I don't know if it's appropriate or not.....but the Commander in Chief of the Military, playing basketball with a bunch of all-star pro-basketball players in front of wounded in action, still recovering military personnel....to me, seems like an incredibly insensitive thing to do!!
I'm looking at it as a mother, and if one of my children was in that situation, I would think it cruel, and I'd be pissed.
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong....I'm sure y'all will tell me if I am, and please do, but when you do, please explain why it's appropriate.

It's not right, but if he were playing this with some other politicos against the pro players and they were doing it as a charity fundraiser for the wounded warriors,, then I'd be all for it. Playing in front of them is just another tasteless act by the incompetent One.

Doing this would not bother me, either, nor would taking a busload of them to a pro-basketball game, if they wanted to go.

Well, look at it this way--the more he plays golf, or hoops, or goes out on "date nights" with Sasquatch, the less he ****s up the country.
