This lemonade stand belonged to a 7 year old!
http://www.twiceright.com/2010/8/5/government-shuts-down-7-year-olds-lemonade-stand/in/politics/by/alex
Last week government officials shut down 7-year-old Julie Murphy's lemonade stand. The government regulation she violated? Failing to get a $120 temporary restaurant license.

It seems like this happens every year. :banghead:

The DUmpmonkiez posted this as well. They were all for it, they loved the government regulation.

I'd like to know if they would still be "FOR" it if were their 7 year old crying?
I would have shoved that clipboard up the ass of the inspector. No body makes my baby cry!

Those DUmmies are wonderful, caring people ::)

The very nerve of that evil, greedy, profit motivated, non-union, little slut. [DU/mode]

I mean honestly, how much was she going to make that day? Is $10-$20 really that big of a deal? I guess the DUmmies would be jealous since a 7 year old is making more than they do a year.

This smacks of ignorance.
The child could have gotten a booth at a flee market for $10.00
If she ran in the red and did not cover her costs, then this is a learning time for her.
At 7 years of age she needs guidance in advertising and learning how to convince people they need her product.
This child could have been out front and center like a carnival barker yelling about the heat and how good a glass of her Lemonaid would taste to them.
Her family and friends could have gone through the crowd targeting the oldsters that looked thirsty and tired.
Heck if one has a child with an idea on any way of making money and going into any kind of business, then for the sake of the kids, help them out.
Sure a Lemonaid stand for a 7 year old is small pickings, but even people in their 30's need help to start a business.
This 7 year old has my sympathy, poor kid all she has been taught is the Government is mean.---Another Liberal being raised.

Vestanumbers may have a point. Another person having their hopes and dreams crushed and forced to continue to rely on the government, in this case, her parents.

The 7 year old received an apology from the county.

Oregon county officials have apologized after health inspectors told a 7-year-old girl that she can’t run a lemonade stand without a $120 temporary restaurant license.

Lemonade stands get reprieve: Multnomah County Chairman Jeff Cogen apologizes for health inspection shutdown.

I think this shows poor management and planning at the Health Department. It should have already been discussed about how something like this would be handled. For such a small scale operation a nominal fee of a few bucks and a pamphlet about basic food safety (Ice being held in sanitary container, scoop being used, etc.) would seem appropriate. Even a 7 year old needs to start to learn about the red tape that they will be wading through for the rest of their lives.

Of course they were. Now they have a gold plated excuse not to have a lemonade stand to try and support themselves. Any good excuse not to have to work sets them all a-twitter. :-)

Didn't some kid's lemonade stand get shut down last summer because of either no permit or needing to pay tax on it, something stupid?
Seems like the kid was doing it to give the money to something or someone....not to make money for themself.

Sometimes, I thinks are more mature than adults these days. Am I the only one who thinks that?
