Title: Town Hall Meetings
Post by: Mike220 on August 04, 2010, 03:44:06 PM
Going to my first one ever tomorrow evening. Since I've never been to one, not sure what to expect. But I'll keep notes and make a report. At least I have a good Rep, Michael Burgess (R-TX 26).

Voted against TARP, Porkulus, auto bailouts, Obamacoup and Fin Reg.

Yeah... try to get some video if you can. :)

Mike Burgess is excellent.  I've seen him speak on the floor of House and he does a good job.

I'll see what I can do. If nothing else, I can do pictures on my cell phone, but I'll try and borrow my girlfriend's camera. Maybe she'll let me borrow one of the new video cameras the school bought for her. Purely as a test measure.

HI,

If you get a chance to speak, I have a suggestion.  Please ask him why Republicans have not been more aggressive is stopping the Obama agenda etc.  It is one thing to vote for or against something, yet quite another to really raise hell and educate the population.  I am to the point on things like the health care vote in the house, the Republicans en masse should have walked out of the chamber before the vote.  Would have drawn a lot of attention to the situation.

Same thing should happen with the Kagan nomination, all Republicans should get up and walk out of the senate.  Instead they sit there and passively play the game.

regards,

If I get the chance I will. There is supposed to be a point where the audience can get up and ask questions.

He does do a good job. And when he talks health care, I listen. He's an MD with 25 years as an OB-Gyn in the Lewisville area.

This is from about a year ago on the drive to Obamacoup.

This is a recent one about the budget. The video and audio aren't synchronized, but it's still good.

Me too. The moment I got the email about it, it went on my calender. Looking forward to getting more involved politically.

Well, that was very interesting. I videoed the whole thing. Still have to chop it up into pieces since it's an hour a half long. I'll try and do that tonight and post it.

YouTube changed their upload limits... you get 15 minutes and 2GB per video.  It was 10 and 10.

Well, I'd ask my Congresscritter some pointed questions, but she's been in hiding...AGAIN.

Well, here's the first video. I'm doing them in 10 minute chunks, so it's going to take a while. Number two is processing now, but it'll probably be done as I'm heading out the door for shabbat services. Hopefully I'll have all 9 done this weekend. And sorry for the shakiness. I was using one of those new small flip camcorders. Hard to keep steady.

Part 2.

I don't have to be in Richardson until 8 tonight, so maybe I'll get part 3 posted before I leave.

Here's part 3. That's all for tonight.

A few observations though. No apparent moonbats (though a few did get up and stick their feet in their mouth). Based on bumper stickers on the way in, I would have guess that it would have been about 50-50. Turns out it was probably 80-20 on the conservative side. About right for Denton Co. And I hate bastards that don't turn off their cell phone ringers. Especially during the pledge.
