The only change that should be made to Social Sercurity...
lower the age, what sense does it make to force even 1 or 2 million more people out into such a weak job market?
:whatever:
They're so smart. See how cute they get when they ask for free stuff.

Then we're talking economic justice.

14. There would be four changes I'd make to Social Security...
1) Eliminate the total amount of income considered for the social security tax.
2) Give everyone who contributes into Social Security a basic pension at retirement age irrespective of contributions.
3) Introduce a new "means test" add-on Social Security benefit to protect the poorest.
4) Lower the retirement age cap so that some benefits can be paid to some people earlier (59.5 yrs I say)
Mark.
More dreaming on the part of the DUmmies. How can we get the rich to give us more money without actually having to do anything. HOW dammit!!

Essentially we do all those things now, DUmbass. Why do you think it's going broke?

I want more money on my SS check.
...but I'm still going to vote against my best interest.

Translated, the DUmb OP's post is "I've cut this three times and it is still too short."

20. Drop it to 55... I'm ready to retire NOW
Someone younger can have this back breaking job.
The great lie. Social Security is NOT your retirement DUmmie. Thinking that SS is your retirement plan is a fools game.

Well... :rotf:
It makes my brain hurt when they start talking about economics. Of course most of them think they are talking about handouts, freeloading, or other forms of benefit entitlements, and the fact they don't even realize they are talking about real-world economics just makes the pain worse.

It really does shock me how many appear to have never outgrown the "Dad, I need 20 bucks" stage. They want money, they want it now, and they don't care where it comes from.

I'd like to substitute "a punch in the mouth".

The best way to save Social Security is to privatize it.
Get it away from the government, and it will be just fine.
