Hello all. My name's Ray and I'm a conservative. (sounds like an AA meeting, LOL)
A little about myself.
I live in North East Georgia with my lovely wife and 3 beautiful daughters and I work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room of a Midsized Hospital. I've been a Conservative for as long as I can remember, but I try to keep an open mind and decide which way I feel about issues without just knee jerking. I'm a member of the ALR and Patriot Guard Riders, who's bike is currently FUBAR, so I'm Jonesing for some 2 wheel time.
Today, out of curiosity, I followed NHSparky here from TAH. I'm glad I did. I don't know how often I will actually post useful things, but I'll give it a try. Like NHSparky, I used to close myself in a long black steel tube with 148 other guys for months at a time, but, don't worry, it hasn't affected me at all :bouncy:

Bull-SHIT it hasn't. Nobody gets on one of those things and walks away unaffected (some good, some bad).
For starters, I'll never get "boat smell" out of my head. EVER. But I'll never forget how tight the crew is--even the assholes were like brothers.
-
Welcome bubblehead, watch out for the brownshoe hammer man Thor.
Now I see why dutch is stammering...........
-
Ahhhhh the Boat smell. You know Sparky, no one who hasn't lived in a Sub can truely appreciate that aroma. LOL. I have an old foul weather jacket from the boat that I swear I can still smell "Submarine" on... and I got out in 84.
-
Ah...foul weather jackets--those things were AWESOME. Pisses me off I never
stole acquired one. And if you think that's bad, I've still got my poopy suits. Don't have ANY of my other uniforms, but kept the poopy suits. Go figure.

Oh great, another f'n Bubblehead...... Submarines, where a 150 Men go down and 75 couples emerge....... :stirpot: :-)
Anyways, welcome to our forum..... :cheersmate:

Did a stint in the Newport News Shipyard. Somehow I acquired a jacket, a riot baton, and the metal ID plate from Missle tube 5 :evillaugh: (Hey... to be fair to myself, the Navy was just throwing that stuff away.) I remember sitting in Norfolk waiting for our spot to open up in the Shipyards and getting a lecture from the Weapons Officer on how bags would be checked and you were subject to search at the shipyard gates. He looked out at us and said "You understand what I'm saying?" and I piped up and said, "Yessir, you're telling us if we're going to steal something do it now." :-)

Just remember there are many more planes under the water than there are Submarines in the sky.
Thanks for the welcome shipmate.

While most of those aircraft are casualties of War, there' s still a significant number of subs that never made it back to the surface!! Two things I refuse to do: jump out of a perfectly good airplanes and embark on anything that intentionally sinks itself!! :-)

Welcome! Wish I had time to ride with the PGR but it's too far and would require entire days from work.
What you ride when it isn't down?

Now that be some funny shit right there.
While living on Kwajalein in the early 90's, via the GT Power BBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GT-Power) I ran, I had the privilege of getting to know an Naval officer that lived in Ewa Beach, Hi but was assigned to a boomer. After I moved to Kennewick, WA in `94, he would shoot me BBS e-mail when he was in Bremerton and I would drive to the coast to spend a day with him. I never understood how he could live across the harbor from Pearl yet serve on a boomer based out of Bremerton. He wouldn't tell me either...
Anyhow, the stories he used to tell me about the smells 'down there', were hilarious! You tube dwellers have some serious issues! :-)

Thank you for your service, too. :cheersmate:

Volusia? Either way those are good bikes. I have a friend who has one ... she hasn't ridden in a long time but it's still a good bike.

Not a Volusa, just an Intruder. It is the first bike I've ever owned and I didn't want to spend a lot and it's a lighter and more easily maneuverable bike with enough guts to haul my fat ass. I've built up enough marital capitol to get a new, bigger bike, but currently lack the financial capitol. :-)

Welcome, Ray. I ride a 2003 Honda 919 - also for the reasons that you cite. :-)
PGR gigs are usually at either end of the state for me....... :p
