Yeah. DU is like that at times. This is a thread for someone special here
He helped me out tonight. In a way that means more to me than I can ever express. A DU'er made sure that I would see my son.
I have a lot going on in my life, more than I am willing to discuss openly. One special DU'er made sure I could see my little boy one more time before he heads off to war.
I have cried more tonight than I have in the last several years. I don't know how to begin to say 'Thank You'. All I can do is post this video and hope you and he and understand how much tonight meant to me.

Someone out there cared enough to talk to me on the phone tonight. Cared enough to talk to my little boy. Cared enough to be sure that I would see him before he left to Iraq for 12-18 months.
I am going to see my son in 2 days, it will be the last time for 12-18 months. I missed him so much for years - I did not know where he and his brothers were for 8 years. I used to search the papers where I thought he and they lived hoping to learn their fate. I worried that he might have died.
I am so happy tonight I can barely type. I will see my boy Saturday night. I will hold him again.
Monday, he and I are going to his mom's grave site. It will be hard for him, but thanks to someone special here he and I will be able to do that together.
I just don't know what to say. This week has been terrible, but finally I have a ray of hope in it all.
frank called that one WAY early in the game.
:-)

I usually refrain from saying so, but I told you so.

The crooked tale primitive's soliciting money.
Sounds like begging for some cash, to franksolich.

Sorry. I had to get offline. Thanks for filling in the holes frank.

Personally I think if this tale is true that it is nice seeing a liberal reach in their own pocket to help someone for a change. Usually they want to reach in other people's pockets.
Nice job Frank, sir once again you show you have your hand on the pulse of the DUmmies.

Yeah, but looking at the other post TSS made .... I'm working under the assumption that WE are paying the lions share. I think TSS is on the government tit in some form.

It's pretty much a given any actual member of DU is on the govt tit in some way. And I am not counting the few veterans who get VA benefits although I can not understand a vet being liberal. You would think a vet would appreciate freedom more than anyone.

I would never consider a vet as 'being on the tit'. To me those on the Tit are what Andrew Wilkow calls "Zero Liability Voters". Nothing put in to the system from which they steal and vote themselves more benefits. THESE are the people I take issue with and feel they have not earned the right to vote. Once they work their way off the tit then the voting rights should be restored.

That remark was for the lurking dummies who claim that VA benefits are socialism.

The key words there.

I wonder what the real reason is that the DUmmys offspring chose not to have any real contact with him for so long? Travel is not that hard if you really wanted to see someone. Perhaps the offspring did not want their children exposed to the constant yammaring, BDS, illegal drugs and general mental illness that comes with having grandpa visit.
-
Good find, and congrats on making the correct call, Frank.
When is TSS going to stop calling this full grown man, a soldier, "my little boy?" It's odd. It's femmy.

Uh, can't those in service to their country pretty much hitch a ride on Military Transport anywhere they want to go during time off? I know my BIL, years ago, used to. Has it changed?
-
You can, Al, but there's a lot fewer airbases and a lot fewer empty seats than there used to be, and it can involve sitting on your ass and losing some of the days you're off trying to get on the plane and get back. Never found it worthwhile myself, my perspective may change a bit when I retire though.
