THE EVAPORATING PRIMITIVE
Original message
2 Billion Gallons of Untreated Human Waste
Were allowed to dump into Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee has long had a problem of combined sanitary and storm sewers. The recent record rain storms have highlighted the problem...AGAIN.
9000 homes had RAW sewage backup into basements. The bulk of those homes...are in low income, predominantly African American neighborhoods.
Putting off repair was the norm thanks to lack of funding through the Bush years.
Thanks Republicans. You suck. Now the beaches have been closed and the Lake stinks like shit.
Cheap bastards.
Well, let's pull out an atlas and look at something here, the places bordering Lake Michigan.
Milwaukee: Republican mayor.
Wisconsin: Republican governor.
Chicago: Republican mayor.
Illinois: Republican governor.
Gary, Indiana: Republican mayor.
Michigan: Republican governor.
Yeah, the evaporating primitive appears to be right; Republicans are to be blamed.

I know from trying to assist clients in the past that Wisconsin has extremely oppressive landlord-tenant law - extremely oppressive to the landlord, that is! It's nearly im-freakin'-possible to get rid of a deadbeat tenant, they can squat for six months before you can even begin to move them out, and pushing the envelope in any form of 'Encouragement' to move on will only get the landlord cited. There is very little incentive to repair or fix up low income housing in a legal environment like, that unless you are one of the lucky few who actually has a good and reliable tenant in it.

Who would even want to go into that business then? And Bobbo complains about homelessness.

Misleading title. Talking about human waste in the DUmpster could mean talking about the DUmmies themselves.

Here in the P_town we have a similar delicate situation. Seems the city kept putting off a new sewer plant only to now find the EPA dictating the harsher treatment terms. Water / Sewer rates are expected to double or triple at least. Yessiree folk it is all to 'reduce the amount of nitrogen' going into one of the largest estuary in North America or something like that. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Bay_(New_Hampshire)) With taxpayers stressed to the limit this will be interesting. Of course P_town recently built a Leed Certified Library but this cuts no sway with the G. Does P_town have a liberal bent? Well yeah, the total Republican party could meet in a phone booth.

It seems this problem would go back decades. Someone remind me how long Bush was president?

Well, I guess the facts are in - all those Republican strongholds in the large cities surrounding The Great Lakes... It makes me want to hang my head in shame.... :rotf:
