PHOENIX - Three Chandler police officers have reportedly been shot in south Phoenix during an undercover operation.

A fourth person, but not an officer, is dead, according to Phoenix Fire Department Spokesperson Scott Walker.

Phoenix police have blocked off the area as officers search for another possible gunman.

Two of the officers have been taken to St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. The third officer has been taken to Banner Good Samaritan Hospital.

At least one of the officers is reported to be seriously wounded. The condition of the other two officers is unknown.

There are reports of at least one suspect on the loose, described as a black male, 6 feet tall, wearing jean shorts and a white do-rag.


I know it's small consolation, but at least the immigration status of the shooters isn't a question - THIS TIME...

KTAR just reported that one of the officers has died of his wounds.

I'm saddened.  :(

We lived in Chandler for a year before moving to All-white-too-kee (Ahwatukee).  The police were always very nice.

Is it typical for Chandler PD to help out Phoenix PD on drug busts?  I noticed this shooting happened on the other side of South Mountain.... near Baseline, which is clearly Phoenix.

I hope they catch the rest of those dirt bags ASAP!

I don't know.  I have friends on the force in both Phoenix PD and Chandler PD.

I can ask.

Off the top of my head I can guess that probably whatever these guys were investigating crossed departmental boundaries, and so both PDs were involved, but I'm just WAGging that.

Do you live in the Phoenix area?

I heard from the Brave Office page on Facebook that Chandler PD was doing an undercover buy (which I guess is normal) in Phoenix which lead to the shooting.

I used to live in Mesa.  Have a buddy of mine who's a Narc Detective for Phoenix PD, and a former roommate who's an officer on Chandler PD.

Got married and moved away from Arizona - chasing work - 8 years ago.

It was an undercover operation. Frequently agencies develop cases that take them into other jurisdictions. Crimes that might originate in one city, often also continue in other cities. No joint operation, but Phx PD was probably aware the operation was happening.

They will end up ditching the car.  But I know they will be found.  Hopefully it's TODAY.

Here's another story, says two dirtbag criminals are dead and six arrested.  Prayers for the officers and curses for the criminals.
