North Korea said it would counter U.S. and South Korean joint naval exercises with “nuclear deterrence†after the Obama administration said the government in Pyongyang shouldn’t take any provocative steps.
North Korea will “legitimately counter with their powerful nuclear deterrence the largest-ever nuclear war exercises to be staged by the U.S. and the South Korean puppet forces,†the National Defense Commission said, according to the Korean Central News Agency.
The maneuvers, which involve 20 vessels and 200 aircraft from the U.S. and South Korea, pose a threat to the country’s sovereignty and security, Ri Tong Il, an official with North Korea’s delegation to the Asean Security Forum, told reporters in Hanoi yesterday

I wish N. Korea would really try that shit.
I really do...
Of course if they did use nukes against S. Korea or the United States, 0bama would fly to Pyongyang and bow to, and perform fellatio on Kim Jong Il begging him to be nice. The DUmmys would rejoice, the clouds would part, and we Americans would be rightfully put in our place...especially the millions of us that died in the process...

I am not sure a NK nuke would go off when it hit something. With the miserable performance of the nuke tests, I'm betting 70% dud.
-
Can we just nuke them first?
Do we really need an excuse? Just press the button already.

Those North Koreans are crazy. :mental:

Bingo. There is very great doubt that they ever succeeded in getting full high-order detonation in any of their tests to date.

Maybe not, but getting even the strength that they have achieved to go off in Seoul would be beyond devestating.

Everything made in communist coutries is substandard...just take a look at the junk made in China.
Now when the day comes that the substandard stuff made in China today becomes "The Standard" just imagine how bad the 'substandard' stuff is going to be....we're almost to that point now.

They really, really wouldn't like what happened next.

Any overt hostile action they made would ruin there day. There is no contingency were N. Korea would win, they know that as well as we do. If that trigger is ever pulled it's in order to cause as much damage as they possibly can before they go down in a rain of fire. They don't need to use Nukes to warrant a nuclear response. All the Biological and Chemical weapons they have sitting on the DMZ would legally warrant a nuclear strike in return, and we both know that when that shot is fired, those artillary shells full of VX gas will be raining down right next to the HE ones.

But do you think Obama would approve of the US retaliating with nukes?
I don't think he would.

South Korea is a sovereign nation. So it can do whatever US approves or not.
-
The South does not want them nuked, no matter what they do, they just want the Bizarro World government of the North taken out, root and branch, and then re-unification. The real question is what China would do if faced with a unified Korea on its doorstep, they MIGHT be amenable to it if the Sout severed the alliance with us after the war, and honestly once the Nork war machine was no longer a threat, reunificaiton would mean a damned sight more to the South than a continuing tight military alliance with us would mean to them.
-
Well, as I recall, the aftermath of WWII created the 38th parallel and with it and the Communist Chinese regime coming into power in 1949, the question of whether the Chinese have simmered down long enough to be a non-threat to any reunified Korean peninsula is a real head-scratcher. Everyone knows about the legendary patience of the Asian toward achieving their goals, but have they had enough of a taste of communist capitalism to want to avoid a repeat of October, 1950 and just let things be? I ain't so sure...
I can most definitely see Korea dumping us should reunification happen, but that would mean an increased presence in Japan for U.S. forces. I can't imagine us simply vacating that part of the world simply because the Koreans reunified.
And based on this latest saber-rattling from the Head Nork Wacko, I just can't see reunification happening, unless it happens under his terms. And that, of course, is unacceptable.

I think the most likely scenario for reunification involves Li'l Kim seriously overplaying his hand, and then he and his senior leadership not being around this plane of existence anymore shortly afterward as a result. It's definitely not going to happen on his terms, nor by a peacefully-negotiated outcome.
-
Kinda wonderin' about how many little caves and such L'il Kim has burrowed into the Nork mountains in order to hide out after he presses the "fire" button. Taking him and his entourage out out might REQUIRE a tac nuke, or more, should Barry have the balls to order such a response.
And I don't see Barry having the 'nads. Nope, no way.

No sure of this as the N.Koreans think their crazy leader is GOD.
Truman really screwed up firing MacArthur he wanted an end to war but had no idea things would have come to this.
So what would have happend if MacArthur had been allowed to cross the 38 parallel and faced the Chinese.
Would Truman have been forced to use the Atom bomb again ??
Russia had the bomb at that time would they have retaliated with their own A-Bomb?
N. Korea is an interesting study, they will never forgive the Japanese for their actions and have a starving country with plenty of food.
Are they going to puff out their feathers and run back behind the wood work and continue to try to make a killing article that will scare the rest of the world --or-- will they actually get tired of waiting and deploy their missile's .?

Sort of a moot point(s), vesta, as Truman blinked, not allowing "total victory" as MacArthur would've wanted it. He was perfectly fine with a "containment" policy toward communism, deliberately backing off to keep any thoughts of nukes just thoughts and not actions.
MacA needed to be fired. He was simply enraptured in his own egomania and he needed to be taken down a peg or two. The meeting between MacA and Truman at Wake Island in Oct. '50 clearly showed who was meeting whom more than halfway.

So again we have a a president that when we are attacked does not want total victory. WTF, war is in gaged for total victory, the people that want your land, your resources, the control of the your people, what is partial victory .??
Darn the people who just want to be left alone to are now faced with others from without that want a partial victory.?
When a country finds an Emmey that just wants to partially change their lives and lives off the citizens, kill off the defenders and move on in----change their religion and make half the people slaves but call them by some other name, such as workers for the country.
Total victory only once has been achieved by mankind in the flight of the Enola Gay.
