Ben Stein: Unemployed are "people with poor work habits and poor personalities"
Edited on Tue Jul-20-10 02:06 AM by Project Grudge
"The people who have been laid off and cannot find work are generally people with poor work habits and poor personalities. I say “generally†because there are exceptions. But in general, as I survey the ranks of those who are unemployed, I see people who have overbearing and unpleasant personalities and/or who do not know how to do a day’s work. Source"
Absolutely disgusting in my opinion. As President Obama stated, "That attitude I think reflects a lack of faith in the American people."

It is kind of a broad brush but, there is some truth to it. I am sure he is referring to those who won't take a job "beneath them" instead they sit at home collecting govt money. I have to admit if I had the choice to work for low pay and crappy benefits or sit at home and get a govt check for about the same amount I would be tempted to do so. But, as my fiancee tells me I wouldn't feel good about myself if I did it.
I know there are some folks here who can't find work so please do not think I am trashing you. I know sometimes people are legitimately receiving benefits and still trying like hell to get out of the 9.7%.
And Obama has a lot of nerve talking about faith in the American people he doesn't even trust us to take care of our own health insurance. :banghead:

I met Ben Stein once, when I was on his game show about 10 years ago. He is brilliant, well spoken, articulate, logical, and in this case, spot-on. Yes, there are exceptions, and when the unemployment rate (U-6) is approaching 20 percent, those exceptions become more and more numerous.
However, I've seen just as many people milk unemployment benefits for all they can get, and ONLY when they're about to run out will they haul themselves out from whatever under the table job they're doing and get a REAL job which requires them to "repay" what they've taken from the labors of others. Some don't even bother to work under the table, or they'll do just enough to qualify in states like Massachusetts which pay a shitload more per week than here.

Sparky, you were on that show??? I loved that show! I thought it was hilarious. How did you do? How exciting.
I like Ben Stein, and I especially like his column in American Spec "Ben Stein's Diaries." I don't always agree with his positions, but that's OK. As for this, I know it's broad brush, but we all know there's a kernel of truth there. A two-year gap in the resume is going to scream "lazy!"
There was a short feature on Fox about "Funemployment." The announcer was peppy and smiley as she presented her piece, as in "isn't this cute?" Pissed me off. There are help wanted signs on doors all over the place here.

DUmmy please! You haven't been at the DUmp long enough to know what kind of "faith" DUmmies have in the American people. I've learned from DU that the American people are nothing but stupid, simple minded, racist assholes.
Unless of course you are one of the super geniuses from DUmmy land.

Off topic but you know, I was thinking about this, and Obama owns two car companies and a couple of financial institutions, why couldn't he have hired a couple of those people in yesterday's Parade of Victims?

He must've been reading DU.
