WESTMORELAND COUNTY -- Pennsylvania State Police are trying to piece together the puzzling death of a motorcyclist in Westmoreland County.
According to police reports, William Mark Amos, 47, of Export, was riding on Route 819 in Salem Township when the deer crossed into his path on Friday morning.
The bike collided with the deer about 100 yards south of Ridge Road.
But police said that Amos had a gunshot wound to the head and that a gun was also recovered at the crash scene.
Police said Amos, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maybe someone came along and thought to put the deer out of it's misery and missed?
-
I'm thinking that he realized that he was going to die, would be permanently disabled, decided that wasn't the life for him and ended it himself. I'd like to know if the gun belonged to him or someone else.

Are you guys overlooking the obvious? The deer did it.
-
He was probably pissed at himself for NOT WEARING A BRAIN BUCKET then offed himself at his stupidity. :whatever:

Guess this wasn't the biker in question;

The difference being, the motorcyclist in the video was dressed properly for riding. Gloves, Leather jacket, helmet & boots. I think we can safely assume that the rider in the video also had some good experience and/ or some safety training.

Yea - who the frack taught a deer to shoot a firearm?
So much for gun control laws...

Experience might help some in an incident like that but pure luck had more to do with it. I've hit a deer on my bike. It was a tiny little thing. Still scared the shite out of me and I put down about 10,000 - 15,000 miles per year. Thats 3 - 5 times the average for a motorcyclist.

Out where I live, the deer are everywhere and the snapping turtles are worse.
Can you imagine what would happen if you hit a 25 lb. snapping turtle and you pissed off the boy enough that he grabs onto your feet while you go whizzing past?
I don't even wanna think about it..... :p

Oh man, those deer are getting serious! :o

Like to see those crotch rocket jockeys pull that shit with a MOOSE.

There wouldn't be much left of the bike and rider, that's for sure.
Almost hit one of those boys in our car, a very young gangly-legged one, in NE Utah. Surprising how fast they can be.

We have snapping turtles and box turtles too. M found a snapping turtle up at the edge of the Pilot parking lot back in the spring. Brought it home and released it out back near the creek. He was afraid a car or truck would not see it and hit it.
He found a tiny little box turtle in the pool skimmer on Saturday. We gave it a "fresh water" shower to get the chlorine off....it was funny. His head and all four legs came popping out and wiggled under the water. We put him over by a flower bed and he took off pretty fast considering.
