THE SUBWAY CAT, #04 TOP PRIMITIVE OF 2009
Original message
Discrimination and stigma, aimed at people with PSTD
This kind of bullshit infuriates me. People who are ignorant or being bigots, still hold stigmas against people with psychiatric injuries. The mentally ill face stigmas, but PSTD seems to be the new"they are too risky and dangerous etc.etc. Pstd,a psychiatric injury,is now a 'reason' to reject people in need of help..
I have PSTD,not from war, but from abuse and violence growing up.I have dealt with a lifetime of it.The kind of PSTD I have is "Complex PSTD" and coping with it is a daily challenge. There are lot of people who have PSTD,from abuse, bullying, natural disasters,accidents..etc.etc..and with these stupid wars it can only increase.I have faced irrational anti-PSTD bigotry from both "professionals" and laypeople, just for having PSTD.
I have heard everything from: I need behavior modification, I must be faking, Just"get over it" and I must be a violent maniac or a basket case so don't expect much from me,all because I have PSTD.
Veterans can't get jobs because they might have PSTD.The Vet admin makes it very hard to get benifiets if you have PSTD.
"Complex PTSD"--naturally, the subway cat wouldn't have anything simple.

PTSD from abuse and violence growing up? GET OVER IT. Take a freakin pill. You are an adult now, and clearly have been in therapy just a tad bit too long.
-
Take a freakin pill.
Uh, that's probably the subway cat's problem; she has a medicine cabinet with more pills in it than a drug store.
Actually, the subway cat just needs to get a job, and learn the joys of being productive.

Read it again. She (it) has PSTD - which is a complex, dyslexic form of the more common PTSD. :-)

I must've skipped over that.
You are right, sir; the subway cat is afflicted with PSTD, not PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
Now one is left wondering what PSTD is.

It made this same exact post in GD not to long ago... Even made the same spelling error, but corrected it later after realizing it's mistake. Strange it screwed it up again.
What a pity whore it is.

She was teased as a kitten with a rubber mouse and has never gotten over the trauma.

I am a mouse hair away from burning a mole to point that out to her.
-
I used to pity her..Now she just pisses me off..She enjoys wallowin in self pity..She needs someone to smack her upside her head. There are many people with mental illness who function somewhat normally. People like her give a bad name to all with any mental illness.

It's problems are much deeper than a case of PTSD...I don't think the DSM includes everything she has.

That's because the DSM doesn't cover animals. Maybe Cesar Milano, or his feline whisperer equivalent, would help?
