Quick, cut up the credit cards, pay bills on line and pay cash for everything else.
Will the old work houses come back, how about adopting the MOB'S methods to collect a debt, have a cop come and shoot you in the knee cap.

Doesn't this violate one of the premises that this country was founded on??
Who cares in this administration, as we sit back and watch football, and spend a few hours a day discussing the pros and cons of the individual teams, go home watch the news and spend 60 seconds on the world and American politics.
We may get angry about world affairs but only for a short time until we concentrate on OUR team in sports.
No way does this violate our premises we were founded on. The laws set down in 1776 and on have been changed through the years.
At one time it was a good idea to lynch horse thieves--reasoning was that the horse was a survival tool for people to survive.
Today we do not hang car thieves even if the end result is the same.
I can somehow understand why we hark back to the days of old, a person caught raping a woman was not given a trial, didn't matter if she was a Nun or a Prostitute, he was hung on the spot.
A bank robber, anyone who killed a Lawman, none of this waiting years for a trial, Hang them high.
Where were the civil rights of those hung ? Where were the civil rights of the Asians or the Blacks born in America.??
Just go back only 60 or so years ago, where were the rights to join an unpopular political party.
We expect Justice to be swift and just. No one wants to wait 20 years for the victims to be be given Justice. Some familys will not live long enough to see someone who killed a family member finally get their just deserts.

Wait a minute now - reading the article, those people were jailed for failing to show up to court over a civil matter. Anyone a person is legally indebted to, unpaid bills, credit cards, car payments, has a legal right to file litigation against the person owing the debt and the debt owed will need to be proven in court. A summons to court is always hand delivered or "served" to the defendant and legally must be honored. Otherwise, it is contempt of court and a person can be jailed for that. However, a person jailed for contempt, unless they told a judge to F.O., can use a public defender and be released on a writ of Habeas Corpus usually within 24-48 hours.
The debt collectors are scum and have become very aggressive over the past couple of years. They continually violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and if the person owing the debt keeps good records, can haul the collectors into court, even across state lines, and sue their asses for damages.
