WTF is wrong with Lucas?

I think "delusional" might more adequately describe it.  Most of the Star Wars/Sci-Fi conventions I'm aware of aren't sponsored by Fox, LucasFilm, Ltd or anybody who might have contractual authority over whether or not Prowse attends or not, and so Lucas would really have no say in what Prowse does in his "free time". 

Prowse should seriously tell Lucas to pound sand.

But George Lucas does own the rights to the character of Darth Vader and since prowse signs his autographs with "Darth Vader" in the signature he can stop that at least.

Only if Prowse is selling them.  Even then, I'd think that the trademarked name is sufficiently infused into the public discourse that Prowse would have a strong case if Lucas tried to sue him over it.

Yeah he has been selling them or at least he was back in 96-97 when I saw him at the Chicago Comicon
