Arizona Republican Gov. Jan Brewer's controversial immigration law is being copied by five states.

Arizona's not alone.

Five states have introduced similar immigration laws since The Grand Canyon State passed controversial legislation that is scheduled to kick in on July 29, according the Los Angeles Times.

The number of immigration-based laws and resolutions supported by states has increased by more than 10 times in recent years.

"Lawmakers are frustrated with federal inaction," Ann Morse, a program director with the National Conference of State Legislatures told the newspaper. "Until the federal government acts, states will still see this as an area where they see the need to play a leadership role."

The group says officials in five states—Michigan, South Carolina, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island—have introduced similar immigration laws to Arizona's.

It is finally becoming a national issue and the tide is turning in our favor.
Very difficult to be patient for politics sometimes but what is right and true will almost always eventually win out.

It's an encouraging sign, but they ain't done deals yet.

I haven't looked to see who introduced these bills, but I wouldn't be surprised if at some are Dems who are trying to jump on the AZ bandwagon. In other words, it's political showmanship.

That's what I am thinking too. They are smaller states also. I wonder if larger states will jump on board.

Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Michigan are 'small states'?  South Carolina is likely to take umbrage at being referred to as a 'small state', sir and that means meeting them on the field of honor for such a slight.  This is evidently why Ptarmigans are never made navigators.  It appears that they can't read a map for shit.

Hardly.  Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania all have larger populations than Arizona.  SC is close.

Considering how many of the Kennedy clan held or hold elected office there, perhaps one could in fact refer to it as a southern suburb of Boston, much like there are those who refer to Portsmouth as a northern suburb.

As for me, I prefer to refer to Rhode Island as, "The Kentucky of New England."
