A GOP "Friend" said during lunch.......

At lunch he said....

"Anyone who runs against Obama in 2012 should not do ANY debates against him.....he is too damn smart. I would just refuse to debate him. You can only hurt yourself!"

How damn true is this. Obama is going to be even better than he was in 2008.

I love it when Obama tore up the GOP in the open discussions.

I guarantee the GOP knows the debates, no matter who is the candidate, will not be something to look forward to.

I don't believe Obama is a drooling moron but, he isn't exactly a sooper genius either.
The man said that he had visited 57 states. Now if we apply primitive [il]logic then any time a president mis speaks then he is a drooling moron.

5. Well they won't be able to use the "Teleprompter" bullshit

excuse. He doesn't need it and they know it.

Uh huh he stammers and says "uh" 50 million times without it. He is as bad as Bush when he wings it. I supported Bush but the poor guy wasn't the best speaker.

10. At this point what difference does it make

We're giving them everything they want anyways

If "they" means you guys then you are right. Obama is pushing the country exactly where you goons want it. You just do not have the nuance and the critical thinking skills to realize where all this is going. The only issue that he is honestly letting you down on is the war. I would think that General 'Betrayus" being in charge would be your biggest gripe.

ZERO Bong.

Without TOTUS Obama is lost.  I bet his grades in college were not above 2.0. He is such a narcissist that if his GPA was so great we would hear nothing but that.

Nooooooooo Republican would ever say that, the only thing possible that the "GOP Friend" would say that would be close to the OP's statement would be this "Anyone who runs against Obama in 2012 should just sit there at the debate and let Obama talk about his accomplishments" and that's about it. BTW, without a teleprompter this is Obama speaking, ummmm ummmm ummmmm ummmm ummmm ummmm. Romney and Pawlenty and even Palin would sooooooooo confuse Obama!

If a GOP 'Friend' really said that, the friend was pulling this idiot's leg.

Obama is a horrible debater, hesitant and noncommittal.  The best thing for the GOP candidate would be to play to his arrogance and try to get debates in early and then put out ads flogging the living Hell out of the off-teleprompter hemming, hawing, and general bullshit Obama has to spew when he is on the spot without a scripted response.

Well, I wouldn't say EVEN Palin. She does quite well expressing her opinion and she wiped the floor with Biden.

Notwithstanding nerves or jitters I would feel confident in saying most everyone here would hand O a crap sandwich to chew on in a political philosophy and consequences debate.

I wouldn't stand a chance I wouldn't have the tact to not say "you lie, Sir".
I also would ask him why my premiums went up by 17% and I still haven't got the raise that he promised everyone.  :-)

I didn`t say it needed to be exactly a civil debate...just a factual one. :cheersmate:

Sadly, whoever debates Obama on the GOP side will end up being labeled a racist...either by the media or the Dems or both.

That's the way it is these days if anyone criticizes Obama.

I'm waiting for someone to tell me I am racist for not supporting Obama. my response is you are being intellectually lazy. Instead of trying to debate the issues you want me to have to defend myself against your accusation. In some of the words of Obama himself, "Let me be clear. I reject the notion that I am a racist".

Let's be clear here. Leaders that are true to their beliefs don't need teleprompters or other cues to allow them to speak proficiently.

If Obama was giving a speech to his comfort zone, socialists, he would have less need of a teleprompter than if he was giving a speech to a more conventional crowd, let alone conservatives in the mix.

Conversely, if I was trying to speak to socialists on their level without the speech stutterings, etc, I myself would need a teleprompter.

The bottom line: You look at someone like Sarah Palin who is more comfortable with conservative tenets and debates on that level, she has no need for prompters. As long as Sarah is not trying to convince the moonbat wing of the democrat party (which, nowadays, pretty much consists of the whole democrat party), then she won't sound stuttering.

So to that end, in a debate, there is no way that Obama would come close. The only problem would be in how the debate was conducted, in which the bias could heavily be favored toward Obama.

No argument with the overall statement, but you repeat yourself as the highlighted groups are one and the same.

I'd debate Obama, I'd look into the camera and simply say. "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?", walk off the stage and bring a picture of Ronald Reagan up on the TV screen with a caption of
"Can the US afford four more years of B O?"

I'd give anything to see Newt Gingrich debate Oblahblah. Gingrich is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge and history.

I hate to say it, but that doesn't mean much.  The other party is going to have to catch him in an open lie and make him pay for it hard.  Remember the Veep debates.  Sarah was smart, informed, and on target.  Biden didn't even bother with believable utterances.  The media spun it as a win for Biden.
