Should this be in the second amendment forum?
http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/jul/10/police-investigate-shooting/
This happened a block from my work. Across the street from the Red Rock Resort & Casino on Saturday.
A man walked into a busy Costco store in Summerlin armed with two guns Saturday afternoon, eventually pulling out a weapon and prompting Metro Police to fatally shoot the gunman.
Police Capt. Patrick Neville said Costco security personnel called police at 12:47 p.m. after the man began destroying merchandise in the store. After the call, store security noticed the man had a gun and began to evacuate the business, Neville said.
The second gun wasn't found until the man was being transported to the hospital.
Neville said an officer tapped the man on the shoulder. The man turned around and the officer saw a gun in the man's waistband, police said.
The officer ordered the man to the ground, but the gunman refused, police said. Neville said the gunman then pulled out the gun in his waistband, prompting three officers to fire multiple shots.
From what I understand (obviously wasn't there... I'm a Sam's Club member) the man was concealing the weapons. Which isn't a big deal if he had a CCW. The guy was being a nut case in the store, when police arrived, he didn't comply with their demands. That obviously lead to his death.
Never mind most of the comments from the link. It's from our liberal news website. Most of the comments are probably from DU. lol

It doesn't seem like a 2nd issue to me. Sounds like a good shoot by the officer.

I agree. This man clearly deserved what he got.
I'm just more annoyed with the comments like, "why do you need to carry a gun in Costco?"
Because of people like that.... duh. I carry in front of police all the time. Never been shot.

It is usually a no win for cops. If they hadn't intervened accordingly, then they'd be blamed after the loon killed people. They intervene, and now they are killers.
You assess the risk and act on it. A man with 2 guns not willing to put them down is a danger to EVERYONE. I hate he died for his actions, but better him than innocents.

Las Vegas is full of a bunch of cop haters. Everyone thinks our police are trigger happy. I think they are wonderful men & women that protect this city (and our tourists) every single day.
It's always a lose-lose for our cops when something like this happens. Always. I feel bad for them. :(

When I hear similar questions about carrying in restaurants, movies etc, I tell em it's not about the business but the parking lots outside the business.

It is a shame because most of the people griping have never ever been in a cop's shoes. Nor have I, but I understand the danger of it and the politics of it. Ok, well I don't understand the politics of it, who does? But I understand that they have to do unpopular things A LOT.
