Title: Flag Flown Upside Down
Post by: Revolution on July 11, 2010, 05:05:39 PM
Quote
It's a sign of disrespect to veterans, service members and anyone who's patriotic -- an American flag flown upside-down. Why would someone fly Old Glory upside down, especially during the Fourth of July holiday? It's the work of a Downriver, Mich., eye doctor, MyFoxDetroit.com reported.

It certainly caught people's eyes. An American flag flying upside down in front of Dr. Thomas Byrd's office over the Fourth of July weekend. The eye doctor says he did it when he asked himself some questions.

While I agree with what he's saying, I DO NOT and will never agree with flying Old Glory upside down. Find some other way to protest what is happening. That's just too disrespectful, IMO.

Left, right, or off on a tangent, it's totally inappropriate.

I don`t like it no matter what side someone is on,left or right.
The flag symbolizes all that is great about this country as well as the ability through voting to change direction.

Protest in some other way but leave the flag out of it.

I agree what he is saying, but I don't think he should flown the flag upside down.

Using the National Colors to make ANY kind of political statement is wrong on every conceivable level.

This guy is a physician, so chances are he never served in uniform. Had he done so, maybe he'd look at that idea differently.

Agreed. Because of my visual impairment, I cannot serve (even though I badly want to) but I definitely find this guy's act deplorable.

If Lord Zero is elected to a second term, I'd be tempted to fly the flag upside down on the day of his second inauguration.

Hate the man all you like. The office and the flag are separate to the person,  and still deserve respect. IMO.

That was more in jest/sarcasm than anything.  Although an upside down flag is a sign of distress, and if Obama is reelected then our nation is in deeper doo doo than thought.

The flag is greater than the current batch of problems. In fact, the system of government the flag represents is the key to solving our problems. Flying it upside down just shows how near-sighted the doctor himself is.
