Title: Top 10 Primitives (DUmmies) of 2010
Post by: franksolich on July 10, 2010, 11:28:21 AM
It's still some months before we start taking votes on the Top 10 Primitives (DUmmies) of 2010, but throughout the whole year, one should always keep in mind primitives especially remarkable for their stupidity, depravity, paranoia, and gross ignorance.

What's happened in the past, ever since our esteemed colleague Mr. Wiggum started the Top 10 some years ago, is that winners have tended to be those who made their biggest "splashes" near the end of the year, whereas in fact other primitives had made even bigger splashes earlier in the year.

I guess I would call it a chronological bias; one remembers only the most recent.

The Bostonian Drunkard, long a prominent primitive on Skins's island, for example, got tossed off the island earlier this year; that was surely one of the most explosive events emanating from the sewer, ever, but who's going to remember it, come late November, when votes are being taken?

Or the exit of the greenbriar primitive, also occurring earlier this year.

One handy trick to keeping in mind primitives remarkable for their stupidity, depravity, paranoia, and gross ignorance is to post a primitive comment one finds especially ludicrous in the "Posts that stand alone" thread in the DUmping Ground (separate from the DUmpster, remember) throughout the entire year, and then before voting on the final Top 10, consulting that thread so as to jog the memory about long-forgotten primitives.

If a stray animal comes to your yard...help it don't run it out...you MIGHT be saving a heartache

Back in late Jan, hubby wanted to get a puppy. Our daughter had left home and took her dog that we have had for 15 years with her. Hubby wanted a dog. I did not. When he showed me the boxer he wanted to get, I said okay. He wanted to crop the ears, I did not. We decided to not get the dog, then the next day hubby relented and said if I would let him get the pup he wouldn't crop the ears. We got him that day.

From the start, I figured (me not being a dog person) I would just tolerate the little guy and help feed and keep things clean. Max, tho had other ideas. The minute we got home, Max jumped into my lap and licked my face and I fell in love. We worked with him and got him trained and he had learned some tricks. We have a huge back yard and an 8 foot tall fence. We never worried about him getting loose.

More importantly, when I had my rounds of Chemo, he would lay on the floor right next to me and rest his chin on the couch as if to will me better. Sometimes I would lay on the floor beside him and he would just put a front paw on my arm ever so gently.

We took him to our home town this last weekend as we wanted him with us. Friday night, he actually got to sleep uncrated for the first time and he did really well. Slept next to hubby all night and did not tear up anything and did not potty in the house. Saturday morning, hubby put him on his chain (not something he was used to) to do his morning thing. Hubby went to take a quick shower. Got back less than 15 minutes and the chain was broke and Max was missing. We and about 1/2 the town looked for a better part of 8 hours. It is a small town, we covered every street, every alleyway but could not find him. About dusk we went to hubby's mom's house uneasy but okay with the fact it is a small town and we knew he would turn up.

Mom in Laws neighbor even looked for over two hours as he felt bad that he didn't pin him up when he walked though his yard, instead he shooed him out of his yard. Max is just a baby and very friendly, all the guy would have had to do was say come here, and Max would have been licking his hands. He then could have come over and said come get your dog. Even if he had called the dog catcher, I would have gladly paid 100 bucks to pick him up.

30 minutes later my brother in law came to the house and I knew the look on his face wasn't good.

He took hubby and they went to the edge of town near the country club. Max was there or his body was. He was hit horribly bad. Hubby called me and told me that I needed to go to my sister's house cause we had to bury our baby. Hubby had picked him up out of the ditch and just held and held him and cried... He was covered in blood when we finished burying him. I wanted to see him and I briefly did, but now I can' t get that image out of my mind.

That was Saturday, this is Thursday and for someone who wasn't going to love a dog, I can not stop crying.

We have a hurt in our heart and a void in our home.

I also have a new mission....if any strays venture into my yard, I will get them in my garage and call animal services. I don't want anyone to have to go through what we did last weekend.

Dollar to doughnuts says Bally's going to be pissed.
It IS Greenbriar, it IS a sympathy, look at me, feel sorry for me, pity me, Boo Hoo story that she and only she can tell....on an almost daily basis. So if I had to bet I'd bet the farm on :bs2flag: and sleep soundly after doing it.

Plus I have a niggling feeling I've heard this story before, dunno why either.

Your dog taught you to roll over, play dead and fetch. Oh well, at least you can justify licking your own crotch.

One RESPONSIBILITY of owning a pet is ensuring its safety. Essentially protecting it from itself. You shirked your responsibilities and your dog died because of it.

Crotch licker...

I'm putting the final touches on the new DUmpDiver V4.0.
It should help a bit in our quest to find the biggest losers at the DUmp.

This version is written in the C# programming language and will only run on Windoz machines, but it will come with an MSI installer....ie.  probably even frank can run it.

It's also console based instead of UI based.

Output is currently to a text file, but I'm finishing up the HTML output module.

The version I run is attached to an Oracle 11g database, but the version I will give away is not.

You just can`t stop letting all the other DUmbasses know how well off you are can you Pam?

You are a mental case in the first order and it is a pity that tax dollars are employing you to "teach" kids.
Every nickel spent on you over the years has been a waste. :censored:

Ballygrl -- unfortunately Pam posts to either elicit sympathy or to "subtly" show how rich she is (quotes because she as subtle as a hammer).  99.9999999% of the time it's made up or is someone else's tale (see Mythsaje).  She's deranged but is so vicious about it, it's difficult to feel sorry for her IMO.

As to the '10 DOTY, AnArmyVeteran, who's been there less than a year, may bear watching for a slot . . .

There's a nomination process before the voting starts.  You get a chance to make your case, but you have to do it in the forum.

Isn't it a little early for this??

Well now, Thor, sir, the reason was given in my original post here.

Voting on the top ten primitives of the year tends to be strongly biased in favor of primitives from October and November, and light, if at all, on primitives from earlier in the year.....despite that there are early-in-the-year primitives who made a bigger splash than later-in-the-year primitives.

I doubt that by late November, anyone's going to remember who the Bostonian Drunkard was.....despite the convulsion his ejection from Skins's island caused the primitives, and the merriment it caused decent and civilized people.

And hence the real purpose of this thread; to remind others that an easy way to "remember" early-in-the-year primitives, so as to jog one's memory when voting in late November, is by posting something the primitive said in the "Posts That Stand Alone" thread in the DUmping Ground, and then taking a gander at that when the time comes for voting, so as to jog the memory.

Any reason not to sticky this?  Too early?  If not won't it get lost in the shuffle unless CCers continue to post?

Seems hard to pick a front runner this year, no one really stands out.  Bobbolink should get some consideration with past and well documented insanity plus the outstanding achievement of taking down the legendary Will Pitt.

See, that's what I'm afraid of.

The way it's happened in the past, voters in late November-early December tend to focus on only recent primitives and their antics, having forgotten much that had happened the first part of the year.

The bobbling primitive overthrowing one of the most prominent, one of the earliest, inhabitants of Skins's island, the Bostonian Drunkard, was a big event, a really big event, on Skins's island.

But it happened in April, and so by the time everyone votes seven months later, it might be forgotten.

That's what I'm talking about.

It's easy to remember the past month or past few months when handing out any "award" of any sort.  By now there should be a sort of preemptive top 10, with future DUmmy-ness or decrease in DUmmy-ness affecting ranking.  We're over half way through 2010, so that should count for half of the "honors".

It is funny that Bobbo was able to get Willy kicked off which earns her points for being a "good" DUmmy, instead of earning consideration the old fashioned way, by exhibiting lunacy.  What she did would be any mole's wet dream.

I have a suspicion that if the voting were to  take place today, rather than in late November, the California piggy primitive would win top honors, hands down.

Jest thinking out loud here...maybe aside from the Top 10 DUmmy awards, we should consider a special achievement annual award for the single DUmmy that stirred the hive the most, brought down a long-term DUmmy icon, or instigated the biggest mass-banning of the year.

Maybe not though since eventually someone will suggest an annual Worst DUmmy Poetry Award and we all know where the hell that will lead to.

The DUmmy that I think could be a contender is Odin2005. Always something stupid spewing forth from that one.

Well done!   :cheersmate:
