Sen Boxer Poll looking ominous?
Fiorina has closed the poll numbers, but Boxer will win in the end.
There is no way CA dumps a 3 term dem senator.

17. No. Its the advertising. Fiorina is running more ads than KIA right now and Boxer doesn't have any ads up yet.

2. Bad economy hurts incumbents. But the campaign is just starting. Remember that.

11. When it comes to a political campaign, never say "no worries." Anything can happen.

5. Ridiculous story.
Here's the entire polling history for that race:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2010/senate/ca/...
Now, note how the story says that Boxer once held a 30-point lead over Fiorina. Well, that's true ... A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, and before Fiorina won the Republican primary. It's an unfair comparison that's been made to deliberately paint Boxer in a negative light. Throughout 2010, this race has been in single digits.
All too often, when people start rants about the media here at DU, I find myself defending the trade. But this is a prime example of bias in reporting. I suspect it's not really conservative bias, but instead the real bias of most major media outlets -- sensationalism. It's not a story unless there's a horse race. It's sad that, even in a race that's actually somewhat competitive, such as this CA Senator's race, media figures nevertheless see a need to conflate numbers to mean something they do not.

7. MSM always wants to sensationalize news otherwise no one will pay attention. So always use a grain of salt.

6. Carly (I almost single handedly wrecked HP) Fiorina
Proof of the Peter Principle ("Everyone rioses to the level of their incompetence).
Any California voter that chooses her over Boxer is a dunce.

10. Boxer should put out an ad on just that topic..
Something like "Do you really want to elect someone who will be dealing with critical state and national fiscal issues who led a fortune 500 company in a financial toilet?"

After all, isn't that how we get more things done?
Or that's what I heard!

13. That's not ominous for Barbara Boxer
Anyone who remembers her first re-election campaign knows that she polled very closely against Matt Fong, but went on to win by 10%. I don't know how much she'll win by this round, but she always ends up pulling better numbers than polling shows.

15. Boxer has just started campaigning. Her lead will grow. She'll win.
It won't be a double-digit win, but I figure Boxer will beat Fiorina by about 6 or 7 points.
53 to 46 with 1% other.

16. you are right...
I think that Boxer will crush Fiorina by 10 points... once the ads go up and people learn about what an ass HP killer is we will be fine. Boxer is a fighter and will not take BS from a punk!!!

18. You are right!!!!
1) There are 116 days before the election. Too early to worry.
2) California knows Boxer. She has more positive than baggage.
3) California don't know Fiorini yet. But will soon enough when it matters. So the voters don't forget before they vote.
4) Boxer probably has pissed off fewer voters than Fiorini that are likely to vote for them.
5) Boxer may have some special endorsements lined up before this is over. Like maybe HP?
Can you IMAGINE if Fiorina won? and OMG if Reid loses? :lmao:
DCBob (1000+ posts) Thu Jul-08-10 04:24 PMHP has (had) a rather large presence in Corvallis, OR and during Carly's tenure, HP saw some of its greatest financial, technology, and stock growth in its history since the early 80's. A very close friend of mine was one of the design engineers that created LightScribe. I do not agree with all that Carly did as CEO, especially since she moved so many jobs overseas but that was in response to union strangulation, but, she did her job - keep the company viable, move it forward, and secure the investor's RETIREMENT investments.
