Obama tickets discounted to $100
A colleague forwards on the latest invitation to President Obama's big fundraiser for the DNC this week at the Capitol Hilton, along with a new, discounted rate for guests under 40: A mere $100.
That's discounted from $250, and pretty low for an event with the President of the United States.
UPDATE: A young Obama supporter emails: "They specifically targeted at 'Gen44' members -- the DNC's new young professional arm. It's an effort to re-engage the momentum and energy of the youth movement that brought Obama into office."
UPDATE: A party source emails, "The word 'discount' makes it seem as if tix weren’t moving/we weren’t attracting money. It’s important to note that there’s a high dollar event as well. And on the low dollar event, We didn’t discount the 250 to 100. We’re continuing to sell $250 level too. We’ve always intended to have a block for $100 level. It has been and will continue to be important to us to open this up to a wide range of people. We did the same last year at an event at the Warner."
That's the official spin. The rest of the story is that nobody, and I mean nobody wants to hear a teleprompter with a mouth behind it.
