petrochemical chicken nuggets & not lovin' it.

CNN has revealed that the fast-food chain makes this popular menu item with the chemical preservative tBHQ, tertiary butylhydroquinone, a petroleum-based product. Mcnuggets also contain dimethylpolysiloxane, "an anti-foaming agent" also used in Silly Putty.

I don't judge people by what they eat. Many may think 'chicken' is just that.

16. Yeah, silly us... we think chicken is just that.

Thank you for the lack of judgement toward those of us without many choices. I probably will not read the rest of this thread, because that is exactly what it will be.... judgement after ignorant judgement.

I hope that you or someone can speak back to some of this ignorance.

Thank you.

Anyone that hits a McDs and thinks they're eating food is likely mistaken, depending on what they order.

McNuggets. What an abomination.

4.  Nuggets of crap are abominations I agree,..But sometimes crap foods are all people can afford. You see suffering through skimpy paycheck by paycheck existing with minimal$$$ to spare on anything is a market niche these nuggets of garbage are designed to fill. Mc donalds marketing hacks know lot of people in this country are living hectic lives, barely scrape by.. and some are starving and homeless. Some jobs are time stingy fifteen or ten minutes to lunch to cram it down before they must get back to work. Some employers are inhuman in their demands, and pay nearly nothing.Greed for profit at any cost is the real abomination that made crap food profitable and cheap enough to get rid of hunger pangs in bellies that lead to overturning of the rule of the wealthy, and crap food slowly kill the poor at the same time... such social darwinist efficiency could only come from the rich and psychopathic...

7. One reason the poor are fat are the starches, alas.

Any time I've eaten lots of beans and rice -which I love and know how to cook from my hispanic/native american background- I've gained wait. The rich can stay slimmer because they can afford high quality protein, vegs and fruits.

20. You are so right! Good nutrition is more expensive, and usually requires more preparation, which not everyone has access to.

It also requires time, and those who work 2 jobs and raise kids have no time to spare.

But so many don't want to know that.

Thank you for posting your experience!

25. Reading this thread has convinced me that some people have a need - a craving - to feel helpless, and to make sure others are cast in the same helpless role.

I've been dirt-damned poor for much of my life and even homeless for about a year. During that time I didn't eat at ****ing McDonald's or other fast food places because they cost too much. while homeless, for the cost of two decent-sized McD's meals I could get fixings for PBJs, a bag of carrots, and a couple bananas that I could shove in my backpack, all from a convenience store.

Other times, when I had an apartment, I could get rice and beans and inexpensive veggies like potatoes and yams for even less and have huge, filling meals for essentially pennies. Most people are not helpless, just dumb as hell about food.

45. If you did a full chemical analysis of the purest...

...organic carrots or soy beans or whatever other "natural" food you want to name, you'd find they were full of, yes, CHEMICALS!!! Chemicals with big, long, scary hard-to-pronounce names too.

What does it matter if something is a petroleum product? Is that particularly automatically worse than a shit and dirt product (i.e. organically grown vegetables grown with natural fertilizer)?

The only advantage so-called "natural" and "organic" foods have is they are a bit more likely to contain fewer items that our bodies have evolved to tolerate. It's just a shift in the odds, however, not an automatic guarantee that NATURAL = GOOD, ARTIFICIAL = BAAAAADDD!!!

Avoid tertiary butylhydroquinone if you wish, it certainly isn't likely to harm you not to consume it, but please, spare us the ZOMG!!!! PETROLEUM PRODUCT!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!! panic attack until there's data showing tBHQ is harmful.

He later claimed he didn't know she was a woman. Like that would make any difference, but hey it's the Pittster and he is a DUmmie after all.

Buying fast food is the LEAST economical method to purchase  by magnitudes of order. For the price of a McNugget 12-pack, you can buy a pound of fresh uncooked chicken, fry it in a little oil or non-stick spray, a little seasoning, and have three times the amount of food, clean protein, no chemicals.
If a person is a welfare slug, like YOU, they have zero business buying fast food!
The reason the welfare poor are fat is because they buy take-out and dinner in a box. The most fattening, least nutritional food on the market.

Oh  :bs:!
I worked 2 and 3 jobs at a time and was a single mother. We did not eat crap from fast food placed. That was not in the budget. For the $5 that it would have cost for a fast food meal I could make a healthy dinner that would feed us that day as well as the next.

I don't like stereotypes, but in a lot of them there is a kernel of truth.

...and for many people (not all) , fat goes together with lazy.

Too lazy to work.
Too lazy to exercise.
Too lazy to cook for themselves.

So, there are poor folks, who are too lazy to take any job to keep food on the table. They are too lazy to cook, so they buy fast food or microwave dinners full of starch, fat, additives and low-quality meats. They get fat (or fatter) from eating these foods, and so the food is to blame - not the lazy lifestyle that the person lives that makes getting fat easy.. No-no-no.. Can't blame yourself, can you ? Always someone else's fault...

Again, thats not everybody, some are genetically predisposed to put on pounds, and they have to work extra hard to keep it off - hell, I could lose more myself... but I digress..

That's what LAZY people chose to eat because they don't want to take the time to shop in the produce section of their local market.  They'd rather pull up to a speaker box and order a 1,500 calorie meal.

It is amazing how most of the world's poor subsist on rice and beans, or some other high carbohydrate staple, and yet American is pretty much the only country where a large number of the poor are obese.  Yes, if you gorge yourself on rice and beans you will gain weight, but if you eat a reasonable amount it is no worse than any other food, other than being low in vitamins.  We have the best fed poor in the world, and nutritious food is easy to come by.

Trader Joes has Bananas on sale 10 cents a piece every other week or so, you can a month's worth of oatmeal for about $4.  Our supermarkets are full of low cost food that is more nutritious than McD's.

I have no problem with a burger now and then, but they should not be a staple in anybody's diet.  Evil_Conservative is right, it is laziness that has them getting Chicken nuggets and fries for dinner instead of rice and chicken, or beans if money is really tight, cooked at home.

America's poor are fat, lousy, miserable, lazy, and destitute for two reasons:

1: They have bought into the victim hood ideology of the Democrat party.
2: They are mentally weak enough for #1 above to take hold.

+100!

Easy - shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store. That is where you will find the fresh bakery, produce, meats, and dairy. The inner isles are where you find the carb laden "dinner in a box" garbage.
Except for ice cream and ketchup which is mandatory for most sane people!  :-)

My local supermarket has marked down meat all the time. It will hit it's expiration date in the next few days so they mark it down to move it. I buy it all up and freeze it.  I think it's funny how the ones with the food stamp card pass it over all the time for the full price stuff. But I guess it is easy eating high on the hog with someone elses money.

I buy it all up and freeze it.  I think it's funny how the ones with the food stamp card pass it over all the time for the full price stuff. But I guess it is easy eating high on the hog with someone elses money.

When making a meal with meat or chicken, I try to go to the store the day I am making the meal and buying the meat that is expiring.  The markdowns help save the bucks.

After my daughter was born, we were on one income for four months and then I was under employed for two months following.  We NEVER went to McD's as a "cheap" alternative.  We checked the ads at all stores, used coupons, and bought only what was on sale.  We still do.  We buy store brand if it's cheaper... which it almost always is.

Driving past fast food places usually makes me want to barf.  Subway is as far as "fast food" I can go these days.
