Does America Need a Fat President?
Cato Institute Vice President Gene Healy writes in the Washington Examiner today that the U.S. needs a fat president. Finally someone says what we’ve all been thinking. This oil spill mess and wars on Islam could all be solved if we just had a president that didn’t mind slurping up the oil or eating the Taliban. Why is Obama refusing to be fat? He hates America, obviously.
Healy meditates on a photo of Obama and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour on the beach. Obama looks out of place, a “beanpole president,†while Barbour looks completely natural on the beach. In times like these, an undulating paunch calms us. That fat gut looks like a leader, and we are ready to follow it. Yet Obama is stubbornly still healthy and won’t let Barbour be president.
Look, all the evidence we need is in Shakespeare:
“Yon Cassius has a lean and hungry look; he thinks too much. Such men are dangerous,†Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar comments to Marc Antony. “Let me have men about me that are fat … such as sleep o’ nights.â€
Yes, let us listen to Caesar. Thin men like Obama think with their brains and have the capability to shape world events like Cassius. Fat guys are too busy stuffing their faces and sleeping to do anything that would have a major effect on history, like all true leaders. That’s what we need.
A few years back, Slate examined the relationship between flab and presidential performance. What it found suggests that if you want New Frontiers and crusades for democracy, then vote for the skinny striver. If you’d prefer someone who leaves well enough alone — who’s content to preside over peace and prosperity — pick the porker.
Why are you messing with the peace and prosperity that you inherited when you came into office, Obama? You’re NOT FAT, that’s why. Washington, Lincoln, Taft — ALL of America’s greatest presidents have been fat.

10. Badly written piece; writer was being sarcastic
Washington, Lincoln: good presidents, not fat; Taft: fat, bad president. Lumping them together like that was supposed to make the point that thin=smart; fat=stupid. The writer of this piece, using this logic, must weight about 650 pounds as the writing is not very adroit. Or even just good, for that matter.
Doesn't this one violate the new rules?!

5. If Barbour looks natural on the beach....
...why were people trying to push him back into the water?
How 'bout this one?!
Looks like a bunch of haters to me.

njpines beat me to it, but I'm going to post my post anyway.
Be that as it may, I would love to see Chris Christie for president. He says what we all think: "You don't like your $82K union job? Then quit!"

Did anyone see his Cavuto interview? He kicked ass.

Damn, I was going to dvr it, then forgot to. I'm a huge fan. And now, New York is desperately trying to balance the budget by sticking it to everybody with all new taxes and fees, to pay for all the no-show 6 figure crony jobs. People are PISSED OFF! Cigs up to $11/pack. Even the DUmp is saying that New York is out of hand with the taxes. Even them! I need a new state, I am SO FREAKIN SICK of NY.
I DO NOT  NY

I don't care what shape the wrapper is, what I care about is what's inside. And that was, indeed, a remarkably crappy piece of writing.

Karin, tomorrow my little agency gets assimilated by the "Borg." The Office of Real Property Services gets swallowed up by Tax & Finance. If I could get a similar job in Texas (and my wife work for the Texas Republican Party), we'd be outta here in a heartbeat.

Yes, Yes America does. We need one right this second as a matter of fact. Can you get us one?

meegbear is a DUmmy's DUmmy... if they're not complaining about one thing, they'll find something else to bitch about.
I read the article... it was awesome. :hi5:

I left it 10 years ago...loving my life in Florida. And after a significant paycut...I actually brought home MORE money...since there weren't a dozen taxes and fees I didn't have to pay.
No state tax
No city tax
No county tax
No union dues
No parking fees
Reduced rates for lunch
Free parking EVERYWHERE.

I have the rules on my desktop for easy access and that thread seems to fall under the Insensitive Rules Clause which states:
{ } Insensitive - Includes bigotry, hate, ridicule, stereotyping, or insensitivity based on:
- Race or ethnicity.
- Gender (women or men).
- Sexual Orientation.
- Religion or lack of religion (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, etc.).
- Geographic region or place of origin.
- Disability (mental or physical).
- Weight or other physical characteristics.
- Use of insensitive terminology ("cocksucker," "****," "bitch," "whore," "retard," etc.).
